Those things are so powerful.. have you heard some of the items people blend
just for sport?!.. cell phones, golf balls.... don't try this at home!!!!

Anyway, the variable speed vitamix seems to be popular -- 3hp

I'd say go with the Vita-Mix 5200 with the new Eastman Tritan
copolyester container. It's safer than the polycarbonate
containers of the older Vita-Mixes and all the Blentecs. Plus,
you can manually control the Vita-Mix, whereas all the Blentecs
have programmed cycles.....WY

I really like my K-Tec Champ HP3. I don't mind the auto settings and I can press the pulse button for "manual" control. I don't leave my food in there for long and I always rinse with just water. I don't "heat" things in my blender.

If you want glass, you can buy an Oster blender with a glass jar but the power will not be there. I believer Oster is what Vonderplatz recommends but he's not raw vegan, either.

Good luck in your decision. Therese

Both are fantastic blenders.

Neither offer glass because glass can break considering the speed at which they run (the Vitamix 5200 is BPA free). Price is comparable so the real difference is what features you want.

The Blentec comes with programable buttons so you can hit a button and have do its thing then stop on its own, a nice feature.

Vitamix has a variable speed knob and a tamper, 2 very nice features. You can get Free shipping with coupon code 06-003180 when ordering directly from Vitamix.

Both are great choices and either way you go you will be happy!
