I'd come for next winter, I don't want to be in Canada for another snowy season, BRRR! But you would have to accommodate my kiddies and lots of places don't like to have children around for some reason. I find that odd but it is common.

What is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changing ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?

LOL--well...er...without offending you or anything, many parents these days don't seem to be aware of how disruptive their kids are. I don't mean that "children should be seen and not heard" at all, but I go into restaurants and cafes and you have kids running around while the servers are trying to balance dishes and the parents are completely obvious to their little rugrats tearing up the joint and screaming at the tops of their lungs.

I dunno--it seems you have to become a member to view the whole description of the farm and duties?

That's not really a natural setting, I can see kids getting antsy at restaurants. I don't let mine be crazy and if they've had enough we leave and go outside, you have to be attuned to their needs, they are so much more natural and free than adults. About having them in a lifestyle setting though, people just have to make allowances for them. Children are a part of life, people who don't get that are missing the entire point of being alive IMO.

BTW I find adults and their weird quirky habits just as annoying as rowdy kids but deal with it anyhow, that too is just life.

Coco, I have always loved kids, even if I don't have them. I think there is a clamping down on kids because of the parents. There was a nationwide story about a cafe on the Northside of Chicago that put up a sign saying: "Children of all ages have to behave and use their indoor voices when coming to A Taste of Heaven"

This is a link to a story regarding the reaction:[www.literaturejunction.com]

I suppose that these unpleasant experiences in restaurants extend to all settings in the minds of the people like these farmers.

include airfare in this exchange and I'll go!!!

I find it strange that a place that would draw the sweet tooth of children to have a sign like that... but then again they get them all sugared up and I can imagine they get a lot of over spun kids going a little crazy in there.

I noticed in the link to the farms that you have to join the main org. but to the side there were other farms that needed workers. I saw one in PA where you get room (and board possibly) plus a stipend of $1100 a month! Not bad because then you are not left high and dry after your staysmiling smiley

Lots of places pay a stipend, they are working you a bit beyond just room and board. It has to be a fair trade...

yeah, I did work on the farm in crescent city area just to help out, but they gave me tons of free stuff all the time, super deals on everything else I bought, the awesomest times when we would hangout... I still remember the great potato shindig,lol... me and a bunch of other people spent a huge chunk of the day helping them dig up tons of potatoes (literally about a ton I think) and then they treated us all to a wonder wonderful meal, including a number of delicious raw dishes made from their own produce and recipes I had shared with them... they embarrassed the heck out of me though when they pointed it out, but it really was a blast... a wonderful memory...
