Date: January 29, 2009 01:59PM I'm having trouble with cravings for cooked food when we have a stretch of cold weather. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and what raw foods or particular recipes they might recommend for the winter. bradley49 Re: staying raw through the winter

Date: January 29, 2009 08:51PM Have you tried making raw 'pasta' from zucchini, yellow squash and/or cucumbers? You can use a peeler; you don't have to have one of those fancy devices. Put a nice tomato sauce on it, made with fresh or dried tomatoes, and maybe throw in a few sesame seeds or slices of mushroom, and voila!--- it's quite filling. Date: January 30, 2009 06:58PM I make an amazing warm, spicy raw soup: I mash a half avocado with 1 T. miso, 1 clove grated garlic (I use a microplane grater), 1-2t. spirulina (you can omit this if you want), 1/4 t. cayenne and/or spicy pepper blend (my hubby grows and dehydrates hot peppers for fun), a handful of bean sprouts (mung/adzuki/lentil), a grated carrot, 2-3 chopped mushrooms and a green onion. Before I add the veggies, I add warm water, then s I add more veggies I add hottish water to keep the soup warm but not hot. I stir the whole time. This makes about 2 cups of soup and is really satisfying and warming. I just ate a bowl of it and am sweating!!! (my house is 60 degrees and it is 20 outside.) Re: staying raw through the winter
