But eating 20% cooked foods is OK, according to his recommendation smiling smiley

Of course, that is talking about 20% by volume, not by calories. Which, given the concentrated nature of cooked food, can be an 80% cooked diet, 20% raw by calories.

The reason the 20% cooked food by volume is necessary in diets like Paul proposes is because there are so few calories in eating ONLY the foods he proposes, and thus people will waste away (unless they are super spiritually advanced). Eating fruit to acquire calories gives a person a better chance of being healthy on an all raw diet. But people like Paul and other so-called proponents don't care about how to live on an all raw, since most of their calories (though not volume) are coming from cooked foods.

Paul Nison, Fred Bisci, Matt Monarch and many other teachers eat a 100% raw food diet and do fine with it while eating very little fruit.

naming them as teachers and others as non teachers is false and insulting

As I recall, Fred says its ok to eat a larger amount of fruit if they are very active, but not as an excuse to be active. you know? It does sound silly when one puts a number on it..that 5 more bananas or whatever is going to lead to more poor health in the longer term then 3-5 bananas or 7-8 bananas or whatever he would recommend. but one has to understand he is really coming from another place as to what exactly that sugar is fueling, and not under the impression that the body is like a machine where clean matter comes in and is converted to energy irregardless of circumstances.

Paul--
Sounds fine to me. Each of us has to find our own unique path and not follow someone else's program blindly. Sounds like you have blazed your own trail. :-)

"It's easier to change a mans religion, than his diet."

Paul-
Have you read The 80/10/10 diet?

I gess you have, because you seem to be a really educated and reasonable person. If you read it, what do you think about it?

Heheh, yeah. I understand what you think about it.

But could there be a possibility that you're both right?

Can't we all just be at peace? We are all different, some days i eat alot of fruit and some days I eat tons of veggies. I think our bodies are all at such different stages, and change from day to day. If we are listening to our inner voices, we will find the way that is right for us, each individually. No one diet fits all. As we journey on this way of "Raw" or "Health" whatever you would like to call, let us not judge one another, but trust that each of us is truly listening to what are bodies need for ultimate nurishment and growth. Peace to all, and love!

This is a legitimate thread topic?

What's wrong with 20% cooked food, BTW?

mr nison made the claim, absent of any details about the person, or the circumstances or anything, that 4 bananas is overeating.

and he wants to be taken seriously.

so i made a joke.

yes, jokes are legitimate thread topics as they can turn into real topics.

nothing wrong with 100% cooked food, btw, depends on your philosophy and goals.

Paul your letting religion affect your common sense.

You use to be sensible now you are re-hashing what is common sense.

Please do not get religion involved with eating.

I see no animal in nature doing so and for the most part behave in greater ways then mankind.

There's a much better teacher and its a lot closer to home. Listen to your inner coach. If fruit works for you then eat some. If veggies work for you then eat some. Personally I find that both fresh fruit AND fresh veggies works good for me as long as it fresh from the garden and vegan smiling smiley

This forum has undergone some strange postings....but I appreciate the humor of this one.

It seems sometimes raw foodists eat too much of something, because we go to sleep at night and somehow, one or another has gone "mad," posting like 16 different topics. Rawdate comes on once a week to tell us about his dating site. Raw -used-to-be-alcoholic posts porn and other strange things......always keeps it interesting. smiling smiley

you know when watermellon come in season I eat that all day yum yum. I don't want anything else except watermellon. Fat juicy watermellon. I could eat just that all week long just watermellon.

I miss summer watermellons.

I probably overeat on the fruit but am learning to balance my food. Its hard to be intutive in my eating since I have just started eating raw. When I make a green smoothie I usually put a pound of frozen fruit in it and two bananas and then a whole bunch of greens. yum yum.

I have heard fred bisi talk about people eating way to much fruit and he especially stressed the time the fruit was eaten being a real problem in his mind. I would value what fred bisi and gabriel cousins say because of their experiance in eating raw foods and their education.
