Date: February 10, 2009 11:15AM Hi everyone,
Can anybody suggest a good substitute for the typical kashi breakfast cereal? After reading 'the live food factor' & realizing how much gluten is in wheat cereals I need to have an alternative. I'm still in transition to raw foods having started 1/1/09. I'm using banana milk instead of 'silk' like I used to. Thanks for your help. Date: February 11, 2009 04:48AM Hi All,
Thank You all for the great ideas. This is very helpful. However, aren't raw almonds ( which aren't truly raw anymore) necessary for almond milk or can you buy it already prepared? Date: February 11, 2009 02:41PM I can easily get raw walnuts at my local store...they make great nut milks! I soak mine for a day then drain, rinse and blend 1 cup of nuts to 4 cups water, strain, then return to blender and add 1 TBS vanilla and 3 TBS raw agave. It tastes really good. Lydia's makes a tasty raw cereal (I tried the less expensive cinnamon version)...check out Natural Zing's website. It's on the expensive side, but her cereal is very filling, and you can add chopped bananas and raisins to make it go farther. Re: SUBSTITUTE FOR BREAKFAST CEREAL

Date: February 11, 2009 03:03PM I often enjoy what seems like a good replacement for cereal...to me.
I grate an apple in a bowl, chop up a banana and sprinkle the whole thing with cinnamon, walnuts, raisins or cranberries. It is delicious and reminds me of eating cereal. I originally found it in the fit for life cookbook by Marilyn Diamond. Re: SUBSTITUTE FOR BREAKFAST CEREAL

Date: February 14, 2009 01:34PM Way before I even knew what the raw food diet was, I poured non-fat soymilk over top of a fruit salad (grapes, cantalope, and honeydew.) It was amazing, but since I don't drink soy anymore, I'd say that banana milk (nut milks have a little too much fat for me in the mornings) would take it to a whole new level of AWESOME!
