Date: December 14, 2011 12:30PM I finally looked it up on wikipedia, and now my thyroid condition actually seems to be improving. I've started having half an avocado for breakfast. Awesome and a seeming appetite suppressant. Thank you!!! Re: Thanks for the goitrogen warning.

Date: December 14, 2011 05:23PM That's the only real change I made besides stopping eating raw spinach so much.
Avocado and saturated fats were listed as foods that stimulate the thyroid. Re: Thanks for the goitrogen warning.

Date: December 14, 2011 08:54PM I see. I have never found raw spinach to be goitergenic, as it's not a major source like brassicas--kale, collards, cabbage--which have caused my thyroid problems in the past. Glad you found your way around this Re: Thanks for the goitrogen warning.

Remember that low iodine can exacerbate the effect of goitrogens. Increasing iodine intake slightly if you do consume large amounts of goitrogens is probably a wise idea. [www.vegankingdom.co.uk] Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
