Might sound like an obvious question, but does this apply to bananas, mangos etc?? rather than leaving them in your pantry is it better to leave them on the windowsill?

Don't fruits and veges also ripen faster in a bag? (At least I've always thought that was true for ripening avocados, but maybe I'm just imagining that that is true?)

I thought that the reason for keeping unripe fruit and veg in a dark cool area was so that they would ripen evenly. Cause if placed on a window sil etc, they would ripen unevenly due to having only say one side exposed to the sun.
