Is it possible to eat seasonal and raw vegan during winter?

How do you do it?

It can be really hard if you live in a climate with cold winters. For myself, living in rural New York, I eat a lot of hothouse grown foods, imported foods, and things that I've frozen or dehydrated during the summer. Sprouts are a great way to produce high quality food throughout the winter.

How about moving to the southern hemisphere for the winter smiling smiley

For myself, I eat a lot of citrus during the winter, as well as bananas.

yes - bananas for me too - I am looking forward to summer. I'm not fond of citrus - it never seems to taste good in England

No.

The reason for this is that above the 40 degree latitude (such as New York City), our bodies cannot manufacture Vitamin D from the sun in the winter. So we have to get our vitamin D from foods in the winter, and these are not vegan - such as egg yolks and fatty fish. You can eat fortified cereal, for instance, which may appear vegan but is really just cereal with fish oil, it just doesn't say that on the box but that's where the vitamin D supplement comes from - fish oil.

So yeah as Bryan says, if you want to be 100% raw vegan, then you have to move South.
