Date: April 24, 2009 02:31PM Fresh raw ripe fruits and vegetables are your best option. Buy the fruits that are in season for the best deal. Buy the vegetables that you would normally eat raw in a salad. Re: Want to buy some basic stuff but what?

Date: April 26, 2009 03:45PM If all I had access to was a grocery with conventional food options I would probably be buying these online:
Carob powder - if you are trying to stop eating chocolate Brewers/nutritional yeast - is a cheese substitute if you are trying to stop eating cheese (only if you like the taste though). Coconut oil - use it when you make nut/dried fruit candies, it helps keep the dried fruit from sticking together when it is in the food processor. Don't you have health food stores in Sweden? Go online to look up nut butters and raw nuts, seeds, and superfoods from companies that deliver to Scandinavia. Bear in mind, these tend to be calorie dense but sparser in nutrients and water than a large variety of fresh fruits and vegetables would be, they are more expensive, also. So it may be preferable to limit consumption of them to small servings. Good luck. Re: Want to buy some basic stuff but what?

I am also in Sweden (Stockholm). When I lived in Gbg, there was an amazing fruit store, EcoStore, that I went to a lot, but now that I have moved to Stockholm, I've had trouble finding good organic shops. I can send you a link to a webshop I sometimes use in Sweden: www.rawfoodshop.se Otherwise, I buy really good chocolate from funkyraw.com. I have some spirulina. I think it is really good to use in Sweden in the winters, when the fruit is sort of... Not so great, you know what I mean. I really recommend buying a juicer though. It took me years. I thought, I would stick to blending and it would be enough if I want smoothies, etc... But now that I have tried fresh homemade juice, I am hooked. Soooo good! If you know of any good ecostores in Stockholm, pls do let me know! Ha det så fint! xxPeisi ~I've tasted of the fruit, it's opened up my eyes...~ -Infected Mushroom Re: Want to buy some basic stuff but what?

Nut & seed butters are mostly rancid. It's better to get the nuts / seeds and grind them yourself. Re: Want to buy some basic stuff but what?

Date: May 14, 2009 05:33AM If you're going to use nut butters, it's certainly best to make them yourself.
Having said this...I've tried all sorts of methods - blender, juicer, juicer with flat blade, food processor, and have never managed to make whole almond butter that's quite as yummy/has the same consistency as the bought. If anyone knows the secret, let me know! So that's one of the things I still buy from the online shops. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
