Date: May 04, 2009 08:17AM <<There are two main ingredients in cauliflower, and all of the cruciferous family, that are the main disease fighters. These are indole-3-carbinol, or 13C, and the photonutrient sulforaphane.
In research done at John Hopkins University in Baltimore, sulforaphane lowered the occurance of breast tumors in lab animals by almost 40%. Toxins that would normally damage the cells and turn cancerous, are swept out of the system by sulforaphane, preventing tumors before they begin. 13C works in concert with the sulforaphane by acting as an anti-estrogen.>> quote unquote from health article ummm i prefer broccoli.. same family of cruciferous veggies but note it has some GREEn pigment to it... chlorophyll is my best buddy Re: cauliflower

Date: May 04, 2009 01:39PM Chances are and very likely it's the texture that's appealing mostly to you.
I've seen this alot through the years with cauliflower cravings. Most people then decide the body needs it. Oh well, I like to say the mind needs it actually, Lol What happened to the fruit only guy?? ;O) Re: cauliflower

Date: May 04, 2009 09:04PM tanawana,
hey long time no chat! how are ya? the fruit only guy caved back in december at christmas and im now trying to get back to fruitarian. ive been back on SAD since then and even drinking Dr Pepper again but im working on a series of fasts and fruit/ veggies fasts to get back. ive gained 40 lbs and feel terrible but not to worry i will be back stronger and better than before. i think this return to SAD has helped me realize why i went raw/fruitarian. Date: May 05, 2009 12:01AM I'm going to go buy some cauliflower tomorrow! I rarely think about getting it, as it is not available in my organic market or organic section of grocery store, but I will have to buy some anyways. Just for a change.
I agree that it has a nice texture to it. Re: cauliflower

Date: May 07, 2009 08:08AM I read about a recipe somewhere where folks turned it into some sort of 'ryce' (raw rice). Anyone know how to do that? Sounds interesting.... Re: cauliflower

Date: May 08, 2009 11:59AM thank you so much for the fried rice info. I made it last night and it was delish! I didn't have the tamari, but used a little soy sauce and lemon juice. Left out the sunflower seeds because of my lack of loss of weight issues; have been told I may be eating too many seeds and nuts which is true. I could have eaten the entire bowl of salad.
