1) Listen to my body. 2) Avoid that first bite of cooked. Re: some things that help me be raw

Date: May 10, 2009 03:13AM what helps me is to have support. i'm the only raw person in my family, and don't know anyone else in my community who is. so i say, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all of you!
i would also like to put it out there... if anyone would like a "transition buddy," you can send me a private message and we can support each other as we go along. Re: some things that help me be raw

Date: May 10, 2009 04:14PM excellent list
I'd like to add to it: don't watch TV. I say that cos I was just watching telly (Britain's got talent - my Sunday afternoon guilty secret lol...) and I noted that the majority of the adverts were for food (high fat/high sugar food of course). Really good, entertaining adverts - obviously extremely well funded... My poor bf was drooling for pizza each advert break lol. No wonder people eat so much junk food, they're literally being brainwashed into doing so... no coincidence they're called 'programmes'... designed to program us... Date: May 10, 2009 04:37PM Jodi, great list!
To me preparation is also key, just to not allow to get too hungry. Interestingly I am no longer interested at all to eat certain foods (wheat, dairy, sugats, processed, meat, any kind of grains) so my challenge is overeating rather than staying on course (which right now is a juice feast, but usually is a low fat high raw grainfree 'live-et' [not die-et].) To me feeling secure and strong in that position is a sheer miracle. What helped me was to cut out item by item over a long time (4years if you count non vegan items) I will keep your and everyone else's list at hand for great suggestions how to keep things light and fun (never made a raw soup before, for ex) Re: some things that help me be raw

Date: May 10, 2009 05:21PM hehe cocoa not sure how you feel about butternut squash , but this soup is delish omit the curry and jalapeno if you dont like spicy or use it litely untill you find the right taste for you (i also dont use as much mint as i find it takes away from the squash )
3 cups Butternut Squash, peeled, seeded and chopped 1 mango, cubed 2 teaspoons curry 4 cups orange juice ½ cup dates For garnish: 1 plantain or banana, sliced (i blend in the plantain never tried banana) ½ cup chopped mint A pinch of minced jalapeno 1 mango, seeded, peeled and diced In a blender, combine the butternut squash, mango, curry, orange juice, and honey or dates and blend until creamy. Garnish with plantain or banana slices, mint, jalapeno, and mango. Serve immediately after blending. Serves 4 people. ...Jodi, the banana eating buddhist Edited 2 time(s). Date: May 12, 2009 09:12AM Great List! Preparation will help me resist temptation. I've been flying a lot lately and noticed that there is truly nothing raw in many airports. Philadelphia has a Saladworks, but trying to find one that is vegetarian without pasta in it is difficult.
The comment about TV was right on. Last night, I happened on Diners,Drive ins and Dives. The gentleman who is the host, Guy, was literally making me sick he ate so much food. Thank god, because I was starting to fantasize about a diner meal. Thanks to everyone here. Re: some things that help me be raw
