So. Have fun. 1. Favorite home-made nut (non-dairy) milk? Vanilla hempmilk is my go-to, as it doesn't need to be strained. I also like sesame milk when I have the option of dates as a sweetener. 2. What are the top 3 dishes/recipes you are planning to make? This week I'll be prepping a batch of ginger zucchini hummus, chipotle "not chicken" pate, and strawberry "cheezecake" ice cream. I love my snacks. 4. Most disastrous recipe/meal failure? My last batch of pesto was all wrong. The sauce was way too thick for the thin zucchini noodles I had made and it was disgustingly heavy. I've found that I really can't do much rich food anymore. 5. Favorite pickled item? Dill pickles will always be my favorite, though I am also fond of sauerkraut. 6. How do you organize your recipes? I have a recipe box that my grandmother gave me. 7. Compost, trash, or garbage disposal? As I don't have a yard, it's only trash/recycling for now. 8. If you were stranded on an island and could only bring 3 foods…what would they be? Brazil nuts, strawberries, and celery. They're my favorite straight-up things to munch on. 9. Fondest food memory from your childhood? Making bunny cakes with my mom, or the chocolate mousse cake served every year on my birthday. 10. Favorite raw ice cream? I make a strawberry cheezecake ice cream that I'm absolutely NUTS about. It's low-sugar, using stevia as a sweetener. But the natural sweetness of the strawberries and the richness of the coconut butter make it wonderfully decadent. 11. Most loved kitchen appliance? My Vitamix, for sure. 12. Spice/herb you would die without? I really like turmeric and fresh basil, but I also love heat. I'm the kind of person who'll slather hot sauce on anything. 13. Recipe (Cook) book you have owned for the longest time? Vegan With A Vengeance. I didn't start cooking until I went vegan at 16. 14. Favorite flavor of jam/jelly? I've yet to make a chia jam. 15. Favorite raw (vegan) recipe to serve to an omni friend? I made a lemon cheezecake with a match-swirl last Thanksgiving. My grandmother gave her approval and my mother had seconds! 17. Favorite meal to make or time of day to make it? Breakfast. I love cereals, pancakes, smoothies, you name it. 18. What is sitting on top of your refrigerator? Washed produce bags and a second dish rack for drying jars. 19. Name 3 items in your freezer without looking. Frozen fruit, organic corn, and a batches of cooked millet for a quick morning meal. 20. What’s on your grocery list? Celery, B12 supplement, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, zucchini, scallions, lemons, coconut flakes, buckwheat groats, walnuts, eggplant, bell peppers, basil, broccoli 21. Favorite grocery store? Our co-op, ideally, but it's not on the bus line. Otherwise, I shop at Whole Foods for what I can't get at the farmer's market. 22. Name a recipe you’d love to rawify (veganize), but haven’t yet. My grandmother's ricotta cheesecake. It's a light, Italian-style cake that is nothing like the overly-rich NY style. With strawberries, it is heaven. 23. Food blog you read the most. Or maybe the top 3? This Rawsome Vegan Life -- her photos are amazing. 24. Favorite vegan candy/chocolate? Not Your Sugar Mama's chocolate bars. 25. Most extravagant food item purchased lately? A 2lb bag of bulk Brazil nuts. 27. What is one recipe, ingredient or cooking technique that you’ve become familiar with in the last year that you can’t imagine you ever lived without? Owning a Vitamix has made quick, healthy meals a snap. 28. Do you have a food inspiration in your life? Someone who taught you a lot about making a certain dish, or about food prep in general, or someone who taught you how to truly enjoy food? My grandmother taught me how to bake bread, which is a very special thing to me. Re: A Fun (Raw) Survey
