Vitamin D

namaste,

i am quite new to the forums, and enjoy this community a great deal!

question:

what raw foods are the source of vitamin D for you?
of the B's?

=)

what other vitamins/minerals do you find less prevalent in raw fruits, vegetables, nuts, sprouts, etc.

how do you prefer to get them?

i bought a synthetic liquid multi-vitamin recently.
now having decided to go raw, i am uncomfortable ingesting something synthetic, especailly with the infinite possibilities of juicing and wheatgrass...

any thoughts?

thanks

Where do you live scottiethomas? I live in Georgia, where the latitude is pretty good for D3 production in the winter. However I lived in Pa. over 30 years with no supplements...B-12 is the only supplement I take.

EZ rider, what type of D do you take?
I know D3 is recommended, but I think it only comes from animal sources

I live in the Northeast (Massachusetts) so in the winter I really need a D3 supplement.
The only 2 kinds at the health food store are from lanolin (wool) and fish.

I tried taking a tsp. of cod live oil but it made me very sick and nauseous!

Hey, I checked my values and although I didn't supplement, I had no deficiency on D. The body has it stored for some time.

D3 is the storage form that our bodies manufacture from UV rays...the active form of vitamin D is made in the kidneys called 1,25 D.

Scottiethomas,

There is a potluck that sometimes happens in Lafayette. It is on Meetup.com. There is one scheduled for June 6. I'm not sure how far that is for you.
