Anyone with IBD who went Raw cold turkey
Posted by: Hellokitty ()

Is there any body with IBD who dived into being 100% raw strait away. Im in remission I think but Im not 100% raw. I want to be blood tested before I do this but Im getting anxious. I don’t want the fare ups or blood to come back. Im thinking even if I have 20% cooked this disease will come back. Please answer.

but.. you have to do what is right for YOU!

Ok. Thanks you have been such a good support.

I will ask the GP for a blood test tomorrow. I have read you won't fully heal like Paul unless you get rid of all toxins it the body.

You're kinda missing the point. Raw or partially cooked isn't the issue in your case. It's finding what you can handle and then sustain yourself with those choices. Veggies raw might be very trying for example, where if you steam them you may do better. The inexperienced raw foodist will say raw is the only way to go, but you have other issues to consider first. This was just one example also.

I suggest go raw with the fruits and veggies you can digest comfortably and if you feel you "need" the fruits or veggies that give you discomfort for some reason, considering juicing, blending or steamed as the first options. Nuts and seeds in most cases will be an issue, go with extreme caution here. Leave out what cause discomrt, you won't die and it is not forever anyhow. Other than that you're into cooked foodland otherwise and that is up to you. More so, simply don't take everything you read as correct or the best choice for you ;O)

Anotherwards, eating some cooked will not cause you to worsen or relapse because of being cooked. The choice and amount of food, raw or cooked, is the real issue for IBD.

Ok thanks.

sometimes I find it difficult to know what I have problems with. For example everyone says to be cautious with nuts and seeds but I dont seem to have a problem to my knowledge with these.

I defintaly felt better when I got rid of all grain products like rice and pasta. I keep to simple carbs now. Just fruit and vegetables, bean sprouts, ect.

I also eat alot of avacodo which is suppose to cause problems but I don't think that I have a problem with this.

I guess its early days and I need more time to tell what really bothers me and what doesent.

I went on the 100% raw Ann W approach in the beginning, cold turkey. It took me 6 months to feel really well. I was symtomfree for 2,5 years but always had a very small bleeding from all the irritants: onions, rough vegetables (greens and beets), seasalt and stress. I tried to use all kinds of remedies with superfoods, chlorella, cleanses etc but I always had that small bleeding, 1-5 times a week.

I truly recommend a deephealing for a longer time (6-24 months) with soft foods. After a 2,5 years of insight, I have realized that there is no shortcuts with Chrons, Ulcerous Colitis and IBD.

Agreed, theres no fast thing with crohns and UC. it is what it is, it takes time to heal

however works for YOU

I wouldnt advise the aloe..my dad really wanted me to use it, made me iller than usual even.

If it means just having soft blended meals do it, if it means a slow transition do it. You havent mentioned if your flaring or not at the moment. Either way, take it slow and feel your way. listen to your body

I wonder if a water only fast would give the gut a chance to rest and heal ?

Im not flaring at the moment. I had mild symptoms of IBD in the past. Then about 1 month ago. it hit me. I was feverish and had D. Was going about 20 times a day. I used not understand what all the fuss was over IBD. Even when I was first diagnosed I thought no big deal. The pentasa sorted out the symptoms. I even stopped taking it when the symptoms were gone. But then whammy. I got ill and was off of work for 2 weeks. I now realise it is really bad. I know that this disease will spread and continue to get worse unless I can do something about it. My body was never the same after that flare I had. My joints started to ach. I didn’t seem to have energy to go to work. And the pentasa doesn’t work as well as when I started it.
