Date: June 22, 2009 01:18PM No one food is essential. For me they work well, especially in smoothies. I could have 2-6 bananas per day. If real small, possibly more. Simple Raw Recipes & Health Tips Re: How many bananas do you eat each day?

Date: June 22, 2009 02:31PM During the winter bananas become one of my main source of energy, the other being citrus. But during the summer and fall months, my consumption of bananas falls of. Though yesterday I ate about 12 of them, and yesterday was the first day of summer. Re: How many bananas do you eat each day?

Date: June 22, 2009 02:36PM I seem to be at about 25-30 per day, but I don't think they're necessary. I just like them. I'm also eating lots of mangoes, cherries, strawberries, tomatoes, greens, and peaches. Re: How many bananas do you eat each day?

Date: June 22, 2009 02:42PM wow...I would have thought you would go through potassium overload with that many bananas. That is one thing I am scared of so I only allow myself 2 bananas a day. I already have that skipped heartbeat thing and have had problems with tachycardia, even though there is no history of heart problems on either side of my family and I am not overweight or drink alcohol, or caffeine...or smoke. Soooooo, I hope that a raw diet will help with it, but I worry about too much potassium. Re: How many bananas do you eat each day?

How are your magnesium and sodium levels? It's the ratio of these three to one another that counts, not the level of this one or that one alone. Re: How many bananas do you eat each day?

Date: June 22, 2009 04:26PM The body is super efficient at removing potassium as it expects to find a lot of it in our diet. The body is very miserly at removing sodium because it expects to find very little of it in our diet. However, the modern diet is super high in sodium and low in potassium. This is why salt is causing such havoc on people's bodies (high blood pressure, hypertension, strokes, cancer). Re: How many bananas do you eat each day?

Date: June 22, 2009 04:39PM Tamukha - I have no idea. How would I go about finding this? I don't ever go to medical doctors as they are pill pushers usually. But I guess I could for blood work. Does this info come up on a standard blood test? I do not like salt, have only used minimal amounts of sea salt usually. Who knows with the magnesium levels.
Bryan - thanks for explaining that. makes sense. Re: How many bananas do you eat each day?

Whatever the case, it might be best for now not to force yourself to eat something when your body says "no". Go slow and experiment. Things will probably change for you over time. I like Bryan's explanation about potassium and salt. I usually eat around 5 - 10 (small fat) bananas a day. Re: How many bananas do you eat each day?

I love grapes, though. I will eat a couple of pounds a day if I can get them... Oh, and figs. I love figs. And cherries. Now, our blueberries are starting to ripen! So, I'll be eating blueberries as I can pick them. I should eat more apples, though. Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much We are all in this together! Namasté Re: How many bananas do you eat each day?

Date: July 08, 2009 06:52PM I think around 2 max a day is good considering the candida epidemic...
Unripe bananas have about 25% starch and only 1% sugar. Natural enzyme action converts this high starch content to sugar, so ripe bananas have a 20% sugar or around 12.23 grams. The Glycemic index for Sugar, white bread and white bread products is 100, while ripe banana’s Glycemic index is greater than 100. Re: How many bananas do you eat each day?

Date: July 10, 2009 01:08AM Personally I try to keep off the bananas as they're a bit high on the calorie to fibre/nutrients ratio.
It's pure vanity of course but I must admit I do like to be really light, not eating bananas much is practically the only strategy I have for it. And perhaps bananas are sweeneted through artificial selection... Re: How many bananas do you eat each day?

Date: July 10, 2009 07:46AM Healthybun, if you don't desire any more than two bananas, that level of banana-eating is just right for you.
I may have five a day, in a smoothie and/or lettuce wraps. But, if I desired sixty, I'd be quite happy eating sixty. For anyone who is surprised at the amount of bananas some eat here, or think it could give rise to health problems, you might find this article of interest: [debbietookrawforlife.blogspot.com] Re: How many bananas do you eat each day?

The body is pretty efficient at removing over-loads if it is functioning properly, except of course sodium. It goes a little nuts with sodium over-load and doesn't know how to handle it. It's a very easy blood test to have done, BUT............... DON'T LET YOUR DR. SCARE YOU INTO CHANGING BACK TO A S.A.D. All you want from your Dr is the actual levels, but DO NOT allow him to coerce you into his dietary suggestions UNLESS he is supportive of natural health methods. ***************************** "Educate and inform the whole mass of the people...
