Fuyu persimmons: High pesticide load?

Date: October 20, 2009 07:58PM Are conventional fuyu persimmons high in pesticides? I can't seem to find organically grown, but I live in CA and a lot of these trees are around. Do they attract the little buggies?
BTW - do you eat the skin of a fuyu? I've seen people peel them and don't know why. Re: Fuyu persimmons: High pesticide load?

I couldn't find any info online about pesticide loads on persimmons, but I did read several accounts of persimmon fruits' being immune to pests, though the tree itself can be susceptible to disease. The plant also grows in almost any kind of soil; perhaps its hardiness means it's not likely to be very contaminated? It is advised, anyways, to buy organic or peel conventional fuyu to be on the safe side. Re: Fuyu persimmons: High pesticide load?
