I got out our sucanat & was thinking about using it, but it had an odd smell when I opened the container - I'm not really sure what sucanat is supposed to smell like. So, I had a bit of organic cane sugar & fructose left over & used that. Re: Want to make Kombucha tea & more fermented...

Date: June 17, 2010 01:42AM Well, hit a snag here...was on day 10 of fermenting & noticed green fuzzy mold growing on the mother...so I threw it all out.
Have done some reading online & I see they can come from many different sources. I found a neat website with a lot of Kombucha info. - [www.happyherbalist.com] So...now I need to order another scoby,,, Oh well, these things happen... Re: Want to make Kombucha tea & more fermented...

Date: June 17, 2010 06:14AM mmmm CJJ let me know how the ginger beer style water kefir turns out, if it seriously tastes like ginger beer, You may have sold me on water kefir...lol... I make ginger beer myself with champagne yeast... but if kefir has better health benefits, and can taste the same... I think I will go for that Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
