hello,

I am going to my naturalpath doctor to get my blood work looked at.
I want to ask them to check for certain things

vitamin b12
lead
b vitamins
iron
vitamin d

I think i should get a big list for a good complete checkout. Do you guys
recommend certain things to look for..for optimum health?

suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You might check your calcium level and bone density.

When checking for B12, my understanding is that the most reliable test is a measure of methylmalonic acid (MMA) in the blood or urine. Some physicians and lab technicians are unfamiliar with this test. They might instead do a serum or plasma B12 test which is not accurate for people who consume spirulina or sea vegetables, since those foods can be high in B12 analogs (false B12). Or they might do a test for "mean corpuscular volume" (MCV), an indicator of anemia. Results of MCV testing might not be accurate for people who consume lots of folate from sources including greens and oranges.

Thank you for posting this question, Eddie. I, too, am going to get my blood tested soon and would like to know what tests to be sure are included. Any others good to include, anyone?

calcium as has been said would be good to add.

If your pushing the boat and arent feeling that good a thyroid test, although your thyroid can underfunction and still come up normal on tests, basal body temp is a better indicator.

depends theres lot of blood tests you could shoot for, how you feeling?

In addition to the iron test, get your ferritin levels checked: this tells how much iron is stored in your body, rather than just how much iron there is in your blood.

Hormones, I had mine checked recently. All good but I was wondering...

Oh, and cholesterol. I think that is a common thing to check.
