Date: October 01, 2010 10:04PM I live in California and have the luxury if year-round farmer's market. That's the bulk of my diet, so it's seasonal. I'm not 100% raw yet, either. At the moment the day looks like:
Breakfast/Workday Grazing: 60 oz. of green smoothie (football sized melon, half-bunch of kale, and 2 cups of berries (I freeze them) half watermelon / about 10 cups 4 cups grapes Lunch Salad: 1 or 2 heads of red-leaf/romaine lettuce, 2-3 tomatoes, fistful of basil,a few sundried olives and a splash of balsamic vinegar. I'll add "seed cheese" if I've had time to make some. For dinner I usually have: 1 lb. of Spinach with zuccini-hummus or other 'dressing,' maybe half an avocado, some sundried tomatoes, 1/2 cup sprouted quinoa or mung bean sprouts. If I have nori, I'll wrap it up and dunk in Bragg's aminos. I also have a few raw 'treats' during the week: avocado-chocolate pudding, or date + coconut rolls, etc. Re: what does your diet consit of? post your daily plan here!

Date: October 01, 2010 11:44PM Ever had a Lara bar? I used to eat them as snacks until General Mills bought the company, so now I make my own:
You'll need a cuisinart or something electric that "chops." I have a "handy chopper" thing from the drugstore that was like 10 bucks. Get yourself some dates and add other yummy stuff like coconut and/or nuts, then mix in the chopper until it "sticks toegther," then roll into balls. Or you can get crazy and press them into a pan and serve them like brownies. Some people add in honey or coconut oil if you want to adjust the textture / taste, I don't bother with them. My advice to you is to check out the lara bar website, read the ingredients, then copy Re: what does your diet consit of? post your daily plan here!

Date: October 02, 2010 12:06AM Breakfast:
7-8 bananas Lunch: a whole pineapple 4 apples Snack: blueberries (2-4 cups) Dinner: 20 cups or so of greens (kale, spinach, chard), tomatoes, maybe an avocado. -------- Breakfast: 12 oranges Lunch: Green smoothies made from 8 cups of greens, 4 cups bananas (frozen), 3 pears Snack: Mango grapes Dinner: Spinach with mango salsa (homemade with no salt, just tomatoes, mango, cilantro, chives, bell peppers) --- My salads are the size of the salad spinner bowl (very large). Every few days I'll have a brazil nut or two. And I might make a dressing out of blended carrots, basil, water, and a few sundried olives; blended avocado, cilantro, tomatoes, bell peppers; or tomatoes and a sweet fruit like mango. Date: October 02, 2010 12:59AM I like to eat lots of fruit for breakfast, and one or two brazil nuts a little later.
Usually I have more fruit during the day - as much as I care to eat - and 1/4 cup of some kind/s of nut, seed or avocado (or more or less, depending on how hungry I am), organic of course. I might throw 1/8 teaspoon of powdered kelp in there somewhere, like in a blended chia/sunflower seed "milk" (unstrained), or today I had chopped cucumber/avocado/tomato/bellpepper with 1/8 teaspon kelp and lemon juice. For some reason, greens are hard on me. But once or twice a week, I usually have greens instead of some of the above - often rolled up in two nori rolls along with grated carrots, tomatoes, bell pepper, minced garlic, 1/8 teaspoon kelp, lemon juice, and either avocado or hemp seed. Date: October 02, 2010 07:38PM Look into chromium supplementation aswell as an acidified magnesium source such as malate or citrate. Which both are linked to the cause of type 2. Re: what does your diet consit of? post your daily plan here!

Diabetes is more of an issue of overnutrition rather than a lack of nutrition or a lack of a particular nutrient or supplement. Most diabetics eat too much fat. Are you aware of your fat intake? To become aware, enter your daily menu into a nutritional calculator like fitday, nutritiondata, nutridiary, or Cron-o-Meter to see what your fat intake is. Many nutritionists (say like Dr McDougall, Dr Fuhrman, Dr Graham, and others) recommend eating a low fat (10% of calories from fat) to heal diabetes. A low fat vegan or raw vegan diet will do. Breakfast - one or more of: melon (water/rock/honeydew) papaya imperial mandarin (if in season) Lunch loads of bananas black persimmon (if in season) Dinner kiwifruit (gold variety only) / pear large mixed salad - tomato, cucumber, lettuce, celery, sweet red pepper,carrot,1 brussels sprout beetroot (if cheating on raw), a small amt of fat - e.g. half a small avo, or a few walnuts or soaked almonds, or sprouted sunflowers, or freshly picked macadamias, or 2 egg yolk, or half a dozen oysters I thought type 2 diabetes was curable - fast for 2-3 weeks, then go 80/10/10. ------------------------------------------------------- > where's the diet plan that you posted, powerlifer? > i can't find it. what do you mean? I havent posted my daily diet mostly out of laziness but if you really want a sample of my daily diet ill get it up. Although fat intake and obviously being overweight play a part in diabetes, dont be fooled into thinking the main cause isnt an excessive intake of refined carbohydrates as to date thats what research suggests. Fat can decrease insulin receptors and disrupt the production of insulin but still an excessive carb intake is still the main cause. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/03/2010 01:48PM by powerlifer. Power is right! I was told to cut out unhealthy fats, healthy fats such as avacdo, olive oil etc are shown to aid people with insulin issues, cut out high glucose foods bye bye bananas lol.. and refined white carbs.. also even watch fruit intake.. right now i'm at breakfast - fruit lunch - green smoothie dinner - salad Re: what does your diet consit of? post your daily plan here!

Date: October 03, 2010 03:19PM Id def give the Chromium polynicotinate a shot waterfountain, i know many with type 2 diabetes who now dont have a problem, and the magnesium is also very beneficial also. Chromium polynicotinate is much more effective than chromium picolinate so try to find the former if you do.
Hmm not really waterfountain i did feel abit more hungry at the start but then i upped my calories abit more than usual and was fine. The transition phase also made the difference. Edited 1 time(s). Im damn right lazy when posting things about myself, i prefer if any of my time i posts on the forums it goes to helping others, saying that i have a spare minute just now so, i use herbs as a supplement to an already good diet they make up a very small portion but a powerful portion which is why im where i am today rather than still bed ridden. Anyway i try not to eat the same foods daily so ill mix it up to my preference. I usually start with some fruit usually bananas these days but alot of the time watermelon if i can get my hands on a decent one. Ill move onto some nuts or seeds, chia is my main staple just now but i always include at least 2 brazil nuts daily for selenium. Im high raw so i still consume a portion of cooked vegan usually for my dinner. Ill have a salad for lunch which i could really do with some new recipes as im getting bored of the same few. I consume seaweed in my miso soup most days or if not every other day. Throughout the day ill munch more fruit and vegetables then have a cooked vegan dinner like i say, chana dal, indian vegan recipes are my favorite. I sometimes use supplements such as vega thrive as a breakfast also. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/03/2010 03:56PM by powerlifer. Re: what does your diet consit of? post your daily plan here!

Date: October 03, 2010 04:32PM I've shifted my diet a bit since the beginning of summer, because I was working outside in the hot sun doing physical labor.
7am. 0.5 - 1.0 quart of orange juice. Noon. 3 to 5 pounds of fruit, say like mangoes, watermelon, grapes, nectarines 6pm. More fruit, like lunch. A salad of 2 romaine hearts, pound of cukes, pound of tomatoes, a dressing of orange, red bell peppers, celery, cilantro, 1/8th cup hemp seeds. I'll eat 2 avocados or less in a week, with my salad. Date: October 03, 2010 04:33PM So do you eat a lot of greens with your dinner? Or how many greens do you eat with lunch? Thanks for answering! I don't like watermelon too much. Just here and there. I started adding 1 tsp. triplel-blend seaweed flakes to my salads again (I used to as well) just for the heck of it. can't hurt, i figure. Date: October 03, 2010 04:37PM Alot of greens utopian mostly always start with the darkest romaine lettuce i can find, there are many other here such as italian greens, watercress and such i pick up. I lightly steam the greens that could potentially cause problems with goitrogens such as brocolli, kale and so on. But yeah alot of greens daily. I forgot i eat avocado quite often.
Nice one on the seaweed flakes will help stave of any problem with iodine deficiency, whats the brand if you dont mind me asking? Im not sure if your in the UK we have a similar brand here which ive forgot the name of. Re: what does your diet consit of? post your daily plan here!

It's Maine Coast Triple Blend Flakes, [www.truefoodsmarket.com] I don't like the taste of seaweed, but if I put 1 tsp. of this in a 20-cup greens salad, I can't taste it. I have a mask I use for my face at home that has kelp and two other seaweeds, I gag when I smell it. I've been using my food processor as a faster way to shred my greens, it's nice to break them up finely, kind of like a parsley salad would be. Not cooked, but still easy to chew and eat. I eat Brazil nuts, too, but only like two per week. Re: what does your diet consit of? post your daily plan here!

Date: October 03, 2010 04:46PM Ahh yeah nice one ive heard good things about that brand i know quite a few who use/rate it.
Lol seaweeds arent the most appetizing, i like dulse though creamy, melts in the mouth and no strong fishy smell. Re: what does your diet consit of? post your daily plan here!

Date: October 03, 2010 04:51PM I used to eat dulse until I found a poor little dead sea creature in a salad that had unrinsed/soaked dulse. I was really sad!
I also used to eat nori, which is more mild, but I usually wanted something salty, like soy sauce with it, which isn't really health promoting! lol Re: what does your diet consit of? post your daily plan here!
