Date: October 21, 2010 04:32PM Thanks for posting. A few years ago, I was chatting at the farmers market with a "humane" cattle farmer whose methods were astonishingly respectful of animals[up to the slaughter, which, though sedate and humane, was not consensual, of course]. He was insisting to me that he does things his totally-not-cost-effective way because industry's methods are a crime against God and that violence against the animal is metabolized by the consumer, to the consumer's detriment. He actually said that when you eat a conventionally farmed animal you are eating bad energy and that energy will sicken you. Hearing a plain, soft-spoken, salt-of-the-earth, Methodist cattle farmer talking this way was a very eye-opening experience. Things are changing, slowly and in increments, but still changing.
