What is Orthorexia?

Date: December 07, 2010 05:59PM I have read that raw foodism is considered Orthorexia. It sounds like a disease. Does anyone worry about this? Did "they" just make this condition up to make themselves feel better about eating foods they know are bad for them? Re: What is Orthorexia?

Date: January 07, 2011 08:09PM I just read about it. It is not a "disease" in the sense that you can see it under a microscope like malaria. Medical morons do this all the time; they see a cluster of symptoms, and instead of calling it a syndrome, they call it a disease. The deal is that anything can be taken too far. Hazrat Inayat Khan said once, "Evil is a good thing taken too far." We see this all over, such as the FDA starting out to curb snake oil lies to the ACLU that will now only defend left-leaning causes to people trying to maintain a healthy body weight becoming anorexic. Human beings go too far. A good way to avoid this is to have some kind of serious and heartfelt relationship with the Infinite: Sufism, Buddhism, Vedanta, Christian Mysticism, etc. This gives one inner balance. Prayer, meditation, and selfless service gives one inner balance.
I am crazy about my new found love of juicing and raw foods. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
