starting on raw again and freezing!
Posted by: Zenstorm ()

I started on a raw diet about a year ago. I got pneumonia and ended up getting off the diet. I am starting again and I am always freezing cold. What can I do to keep warm?

Are you taking sufficient iodine? Many on the raw food diet dont take in sufficient iodine because most fruit and vegetables and grown in iodine depleted soil.

Try seaweeds, increasing iodine will keep you warm.

Exercise, garlic, gingers and other warming herbs, eat sufficient calories, warm your food slightly, put on some slippers and a sweater winking smiley

In you are in a cold climate, avoid eating imported tropical fruit, such as bananas! In general these fruits cool the body.

I love bananas! Right now it's about 18degrees outside. Winter and raw is difficult.

Eating bananas signals to your body that you are in a tropical climate, and your hypothalamus will lower your internal body temperature accordingly.

IMO, in colder weather it's wiser to eat more temperate climate fruits.

Apples and pears and grapes and berries and melons and non-sweet fruits then. Not all are in season but most are still available anyhow

You most likely have a hypo condition of the adrenal or thyroid glands. That is the primary reason some people are always cold!

I don't have either of those conditions and I am nearly always cold. I do have slightly low blood pressure, in the normal range. And I'm thin, not skinny but no extra body fat. I dislike the cold.

Do you have a reference you could point me to about this?

When I started to eat less calories from fat and more calories from fruit, I was warmer, and stay warmer consistently throughout the winter. I don't bother my time trying to search for the "answer" to why this is. I've been active that whole time. smiling smiley

Coco, you obviously dont eat raw then if you think bananas are bad in cold weather. winking smiley

Its a bit like saying 'dont use heat cos then your body thinks your in the tropics and it lowers your temperature..'

Fact is, we aint designed to live in the cold so we must bring the tropics with us. We bring food and clothing and houses so we can.

Doug Graham lives in cold crabby England. He eats more bananas than anyone in the Northern Hemisphere and it looks like he is doing 'ok'. winking smiley

That wasn't me commenting on bananas dude.

Though I personally don't eat them, not now and not when I was 100% raw either. I think they're disgusting. Even the smell of bananas makes me gag.

What is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changing ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?
