is canned pineapple in it's own juice pasteurized?

Date: January 28, 2011 04:25AM I like canned pineapple, and have been eating it lately, but I learned (too late obviously) that they treat it with heat? I am so disappointed. Stupid me. They had fresh pineapple for approximately the same price or close, and I would by the canned one as it is already cut and you can have a quick meal. I am going to stop buying it now, if this is true. Re: is canned pineapple in it's own juice pasteurized?

Date: January 28, 2011 09:42AM Anything canned is cooked, sorry Rab. Also, most cans are lined with BPA. You can often find precut pineapple in a clear plastic yogurt container style tub at the grocery store if you don't want to cut it yourself. It's pretty easy to chop up and store in the fridge though, I cut into chunks and freeze it for smoothies. Re: is canned pineapple in it's own juice pasteurized?

Date: January 28, 2011 06:47PM I used to buy pineapple and cut it myself, I don't know how I got so lazy and stupid. I will go back to the real thing. Re: is canned pineapple in it's own juice pasteurized?

Date: January 28, 2011 07:25PM Went and bought pineapple. No more cans - ever! I will rather dry my own food if I need to. Re: is canned pineapple in it's own juice pasteurized?

Date: January 30, 2011 01:31AM Ive been out bush and eaten tinned fruit in sugar. Zero problems. Fresh is obviously better but eating tinned fruit/juice is better than running your glycogen empty and thrashing your immune system and becoming a flake.
