I am drinking some funky coconut water right nowsmiling smiley

I opened up a young coconut and yup--the dreaded pink fleshsad smiley But as in the past, I still poured the water into a mason jar...It tasted "off" but not undrinkable. But the more I drink it, the more I wanna hurl. Is there anything wrong with the water if the flesh is pink?

I have always heard that pink is bad, so I return those to the store. I don't eat/drink them if they are like that.

I'd say. Isn't pink the colour coconut turns when it's rotten? Funky.

LOL @ Prana and Coco! Yeah, I hate to have things go to waste...I was wondering if it was fermented but it's not carbonated and I am not woozy (wink, wink). I think I'm safe to ride my bike home! Tee hee!

Should be ok if it doesn't taste too bad. I go on taste (it's been a great indicator of safety for millions of years). If it don't taste too bad, I drink it, if it does, I don't.

I have a stomach of iron and a theory that our immune systems should be regularly challenged with these sorts of things in order to remain at our healthiest. Seems to have worked well for me so far. smiling smiley

for me the quality of the flesh is an indicator of the quality of the water, I do not throw away the receipt until I open the coconut, there are so many I've returned to the store for a refund. It is their coconut, it is my stomach.

Oh trust me, I am marching into Whole Foods tomorrow with that pink funk and receipt! I will tell them that I drank the water but they have still given me replacements anyhow...

Never cared for coconut water.
Tastes "soapy" to me.

Well done. I buy a lot of coconuts(young and mature) so I am familiar with the returns. I use the water and flesh in my smoothies. I read somewhere in this forum that coconut is not nutritious but to me it is.
