Date: September 20, 2006 06:44PM Is it good for you? Is it bad for you? What do you do with it? Just eat it straight, or put it in recipes? If it is good for you, what health benefits doe sit offer?
And if it is good for you, were do I find it? I have seen it at Whole Foods, but is that truly raw? Re: What's the deal with raw cacao?

I think it's good for you but recently have heard bad things about it..it is the active ingrediant THEOBROMINE that seems to be an issue.. I have had no bad reaction to it, but I have only been eating it for 2 months.. I love it. I personally use it in smoothies.. or Almond Milk for a chocolate shake.. Hopefully other more experianced raw-foodist can answer this question. I buy it at my local health food store, Whole Foods doesn't have it that i have seen, but you can order many places on line. I don't find it makes me "jittery" or is "addictive" or anything else like that but then again I have a pretty strong constitution. Re: What's the deal with raw cacao?

Date: September 20, 2006 08:36PM I believe me, I'm interested in what others have to say, but only believe me. I believe it's hella tasty and doesn't have any negative health side effects (for me). I don't believe raw cacao is any worse with regard to it's pre-sale handling than any other raw food.
Of course, you shouldn't believe me. What's good for me isn't good for everybody. Ian. Re: What's the deal with raw cacao?

Date: September 21, 2006 04:13PM I think I will give it a try. I do have mitral valve prolapse, so my heart races even when I have a little bit of caffeine, so I will only have some in a small amount! Re: What's the deal with raw cacao?

Date: October 12, 2006 01:38PM Ihave had so many bad experiences. I just wonder what all these health benefits are people rave about, I feel nothing positive after I come down..i stopped last year trying to figure it out..with it I feel very very ill.. I even did a cacao fast like David Wolfe did and had a kidney infection..fever. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/12/2006 01:39PM by coconutcream. Re: What's the deal with raw cacao?
