I didn't know. I do know that he needs our
support...not our ridicule.
It pained me to watch the video. DR needs professional help.
Big men don't need to tear other people down. What is he thinking?.....WY

Lighten up WY. It's harmless fun with lots of truth behind it. Dan's a great guy but ...he needs more fruit.(:

Wish you werent even on this board.
Get help.

Can you AT ALL express your beliefs without tearing someone else down in the process? Your whole energy and way of doing things is just... gross. I'm sorry. And it completely turns me off of your diet... I can't see how anyone who is living a healthy life would have so much negative energy toward others inside of them.

I second the "get help" comments.

^ this.

Without an open heart, good health and fitness mean nothing.

I feel DR is locked in a competitive mindset.

Exactly... there isn't only one "right" way and we ALL struggle sometimes with our diet and lifestyle and finding balance. DR might think he's perfect but I guarantee he will hit some roadblocks at some point in the future... I hope for his sake they aren't too bad and he won't have to eat his many, many, many harsh words...

- dan said he didn't mind the criticism, so why all the self righteous defending that which does not need defending?

- what harsh words and tearing down?. it was a critical analysis of a brothers words, so that others may be helped by it.

there's no bad intent, only the dissemination of one man's truth.

if you saw friends die from doing the same what would you do?

Agree with WY and Cora's analysis. If you are somebody's friend and you want to help them, you do it in private in a discrete, nonjudgmental and solution focused way. Harley's video, as usual, is the opposite.

I just got done reading 80-10-10 and to my suprise, the book is well-written, well thought through with some really interesting hypothesis that call for some groundtruthing through personal experience. Doug Graham is a gifted author who deserves to be read whether you agree or disagree with his premise.

Nothing wrong with eating more fruit; there is something wrong with promoting a good idea when more attention is focused on the promoter than the idea and most of the energy is negative rather than positive, in my humble opinion.

Dan is a man who unlike other gurus, can laugh at himself occasionally

I've watched a few of 'Dan the Man' videos. I think
I know Dan as well as anyone here. Dan may be laughing on
the outside, but he's crying on the inside.....WY

You summed that up nicely. I do want to read the book as well.

Cora,

It's worth the read. I'd put it off for too long because I had so many reservations about some of those promoting it. But in the end, it's an interesting hypothesis that clearly has empowered many on this board.

I think what I need to do for my own peace of mind is read more from Doug and less from Harley on the subject.

If you aint read 811 a few times, you dont know much about living raw.

Those that are into raw foods and dont eat 811 yet, they just havent learnt enough about it.

How self inflated and self opinionated can one person be I wonder. Jolly tedious really.

I think that durianrider makes 80-10-10 look like a freak ideology, poorly based and hysterically advocated. The author is far from being anything like that, Doug is calm and scientific. I still don't agree with Doug's concept 100%, but I was also impressed with the quality of the book. I still think that his book is one of the very important books for human kind. It should be required for all High School and College students, in my opinion.
Meanwhile, I have learned about 'aquatic ape' theory, and that is another discovery that I have first heard about here, on this forum. That is also one amazing hypothesis.
Science is dynamic, we should not take anything as the complete, final truth.
