Green Smoothie Health Benefits

Just a little article i did on green smoothies, most regulars around here will already know most if not all of it but hopefully its a good introduction for those who dont know about the benefits of a regular green smoothie.

Even though i knew vaguely the benefits of green smoothies years back when i first read a book on juicing and i was eating lots of greens it took me a while to finally just start adding the raw greens to my smoothies and ive never looked backsmiling smiley. I was already making fruit smoothies anyway so adding a cup or two of greens made sense.

Very nice article...We can all learn something from it. I didn't realize you had so much talent. It had good content, and I only found one grammatical error.
Dulse, for me, overpowers my Green Smoothies, so I eat it separately......WY

I am practically living on green smoothies lately. Two a day, alternating the ingredients, with lots of greens. This is a period of deep cleansing for me, and my body is just craving them.

Actually I do really like the taste of seaweed, but not in my smoothies smiling smiley

I've put small amounts of dulse into smoothies, you can't even taste it, I swear!

I've got to get back to morning green smoothies but I don't seem to want them very much in the colder months. They make me feel so good though.

When I eat Dulse, which is pretty often, I like a good
portion, so I don't have it in Smoothies.
Maine Coast Sea Vegetables has the best Dulse. I buy it by
the Pound......WY

I wish i could find some of the other greens here in the UK that others have access too such as collards, swiss chard etc. I cant seem to find them anywhere.

As for the seaweeds it depends how much you use i guess, but a small serving of dulse is un-noticeable taste wise.

Nice article. The one thing that I am starting to question is the quote:

"I actually prefer green smoothies over juices as they still have the fiber intact and thus don’t mess with blood sugar levels in the way juice does".

I have read this many, many times in a lot of articles and am starting to wonder about its validity. Too much FRUIT juice may interfere with blood sugar but green juice I'm not too sure of.
I have hypoglycemia and recently did a 4 day juice fast. I didn't have any problems at all.
I am no authority at all, but I guess that too much fruit juice with diabetics could be a problem but out of all the forums I have read, I don't ever recall hearing anybody having adverse reactions to juices/smoothies.
I am wondering if that nutrient dense juices/smoothies counteract the negative effects of people with sugar problems?

Green juices are better choices as they tend to be lower in sugar than say fruit, carrot, beet juices etc.

Fructose without the fiber to slow down its absorption has been shown to be implicated in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. I forgot to put that in the article.

From personal experience i had big problems with juices in regards to my blood sugar, i was also hypoglycemic due to adrenal gland dysfunction. Everyone tolerates sugar differently though, but i still prefer smoothies because the fiber is intactsmiling smiley.

I'm starting to cut back on sugars myself and doing more green juices. I get light-headed anymore after a big plate of fruit. I want to keep up with 80/10/10, but am starting to get the feeling that it's not for me in the long term. Combining the fruits with the greens seems to balance things out nicely. I recently started eating dulse. I love it. It provides a nice energy and reminds me of the ocean. Can't beat that.
