Does any one know if fementing cruciferous veggies deactivates the goitergenic elements?

Goitergenic foods contain compounds that inhibit the absorption of iodine, which in turn can foster the development of thyroid problems, such as goiters. For more info, see past postings on this board.
These compounds, present in raw cruciferous veggies, such as cabbage and broccoli, are rendered inactive by cooking. I'm wondering if fermentation does the same.

Yes it does. Eating raw cruciferous veggies can lead to problems with a low thyroid condition and eating them fermented is much safer. Check "Body Ecology" by Donna Gates

what about just marinated in oil and lemon? fermenting takes so much effort and if you do it wrong, well, ick.
