Date: January 03, 2012 06:03PM Canning itself involves a heat process. "Home canning" without heat is called pickling or drying. And sometimes pickling involves heat too. How do you can without heat? That would probably involve chemicals. Eww. I hope they don't get canned hot in aluminum containers. The raw olive bar at the store is great though. Re: olives

Date: January 03, 2012 06:23PM Those are not likely raw either. And they are probably packed hot into plastic for shipping purposes. Yuck.
There are raw unbrined olives available yearly here and I've seen recipes for preserving them online. Should be a fun experiment. Re: olives

Date: January 05, 2012 10:59PM Not really in their natural state, no. Though someone here once claimed to have eaten good tasting hard raw olives off the tree. Easy enough to prepare yourself at home, only needs salt and water. Re: olives

Date: January 12, 2012 03:47AM I really enjoy raw unsalted olives. They are bitter, but some bitter is good in the diet. The ones I get are grown organically in Peru and sundried. I've purchased them from naturalzing.com and I've also gotten a different but similar brand from Whole Foods. Personally, I love them and they are a staple in my diet. Re: olives

Date: January 27, 2012 12:42PM I like the oil cured ones. David Wolfe really seems to know good food, except for that durian stuff. David Wolfe rocks! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
