I pretty much felt like this. There is laughing at oneself, sharing a laugh, finding humour in a friendly way, and then there is spiteful making fun. That's what this POW thing feels like to me. It makes me sad to see people in such states of extreme self-abuse. Sad.

I don't see this in Canada at Malwart or elsewhere but I know that there are some states where strange fashion abounds. I think all those pics are real.

I don't think so, this video is being posted everywhere right now. It's shown up on my FB feed a few times this week from different sources.

HH, I was just in your 'hood! Been around there lately? They have a Trader Joe's nearby. I don't know the distance between Clark and Pine Grove but would imagine that it's fairly close. There's one or two Whole Foods' in Lake View but I don't know where people go to get their produce nearby. That's the only problem in certain areas of Chicago and ironically, even in the more yuppie areas. The immigrant commmunities have the best stuff! For instance, Rogers Park has some Indian shops on Devon Ave. and I love this place on Western and the River (Ravenswood?).

HeavenHands,

Except that he didn't post it.

Why is the vitriol necessary? Why go Godwin and derail the thread with it, ridiculously?

Whoever posted it, it's right up DongRider's pissy little alley. We need to bring compassion back to raw veganism. Unfortunately, it might require a little good old-fashioned reverse-hatred to get there. I'm not real big on self-immolation as protest if you know what I mean.

I don;t like it when people use Nazis as a comparative tool, but the 811 youth cult remind me so much of the Hitler Youth. I'm having trouble coming up with an equally apt and universally understood group of fascist young morons to compare them to. Any help?

No, I don't get there much anymore. My family still lives in the city. It started getting to me at a certain point. So, I moved to Hicksville and am pretty happy. It's what I've become. The closest I get is when we go to our place on the lake. I lived in Rogers Park when I was in college. I was at 6507 N. Newgard. I liked it a lot there. It seemed like real Chicago to me.

Yeah...I would live there, too, but I have lived in the 'burbs my whole life and it's pretty sketchy up there. But I love all the trees and old houses and the beaches over there...I heard it's pretty intense in the winter, the chill. I don't doubt it. I am constantly amazed at how the temps are lower on the North Side. Sometimes I forget to bring a jacket when it's warm over here and then really notice the difference.

I am so glad the fad with low-slung jeans is toast. For a while I couldn't find anything but men's Levis when I wanted to get some new jeans. I always had my butt crack hanging out, not to mention how uncomfortable it is to wear jeans that hang so low. Ugh. I never thought they were attractive, either. Give me mom jeans any day, LOL!

Say "NO!" to the mom jeans, banana who, for the love of all that is holy. They deform one!

I agree with her on that actually. It became difficult for men to find pants, even expensive ones, that didn't at the very least have some sag in the butt. Pretty infuriating for people who have some semblance of good taste. But yeah, mom jeans. I don't get that. Women should wear yoga pants with high heels. And don't forget the boob job. Just kidding! Love ya natural!

Tam, I really just meant high-waisted pants. I have long and a short torso and they flatter me more than low-rise jeans. The regular waist, of course, is also good. Mom jeans actually are tapered at the ankle and have a roomy butt, which makes them particularly hideous.

I would love to see what all you guys look like. You're hilarious.

LOL, I was only joking! I'm average looking. Ok, a bit unusual with my corkscrew hair but mostly just normal. Where's that photo thread? There should be one of me in there... (if not I can post another).
