Wassup w/cherries and peaches, dudes and dudettes?

Seems like they are late on the scene. I just bought my first cherries a couple of weeks ago and peaches yesterday (organic and delishsmiling smiley). Is it my imagination or are they supposed to come in May in N. America? Also, the cherries should be a lot lower in price right now! Conventional grapes are also very expensive and not plentiful from CA. I am still seeing ones from Chile (which I don't buy).

I know that for Michigan cherries, warm weather followed by a freeze caused a lot of damage.

I didn't know MI grew cherries! It seems the ones I get come from WA state! I like the dark glossy ones.

Last year in the PNW, cherry season struck in mid-to-late July. Though some people at the farmer's market were talking about a late start this year.

Rainer cherries are my BFF. smiling smiley

We've had peaches for a month here in Virginia. Cherries have come and gone. Rainer are my favorite, also. I cut up peaches and put Coconut crystals on them for a few minutes, then pour them over raw cinnamon rolls with pieces of cheesecake cut up in it. In fact, I'm eating it now - filling and yummy smiling smiley

What in blazes are raw cinnamon rolls-- like Cinnabons?

I just bought a bag of cherries going for $1.49/lb. So it's starting to get abundant, I guess. They're late but here smiling smiley

(Strange--saw a pint of FIGS at my produce market for $5. Tempted to buy them but it's so expensive plus way too early in the season so I didn't trust it.)

Today for the first time I picked some peaches from a tree in my garden. Heavenly.
Had a couple of plums too, but they were rather tasteless.
Apples, grapes and more to come.
So fortunate to be renting a place that someone had obviously loved. smiling smiley
Now I'll be enjoying "the fruits of their labors."

No, they're more moist and very dense --

A yummy way to eat cherries - dip them in a mixture of cashew butter, your favorite liquid sweetener, ground vanilla and cinnamon.

banana who,

We had weird weather prematurely all over the American growing region, followed by a series of sharp late frosts, so stuff may be coming in later or not at all. So sad to hear about Michigan's cherry loss; my state doesn't need anymore tragedy, grrrrrrr!

Do you have a crop guide for Illinois? In case the answer is "no":

We did have weird weather and the problem is that in addition to the early warmth, we have had very little rain lately. I believe that local corn began selling in stores in early spring...Usually it's in August! They said it was the best crop in 75 years and most likely a combo of early warmth and lots of rain in early spring.

(What tragedies have befallen MI?)

banana who,

Uh, our industrial and political devastation. Our agriculture sector going belly up would make a trifecta ensuring ruination sad smiley
