I saw this thread/recipe at alyssa's site

i was wondering what anyone thought of this

what is the deal with brown rice anyhow? dr. graham says grains are bad

does that include sprouted raw rice?

can anyone compare cooked brown rice to sprouted brown rice and say what are the good, bad, beautiful and uglies of them both?

i wanna know

slippery elm brown rice dehydrated crackers sounds quirkily interesting

One bad thing about rice is arsenic, and evidently there is more of it in the brown rice than in white. I've dropped brown rice for this reason, sprouted or not (and only occasionally have white rice when im in japan).

thanks for the reminder chat
i had forgotten about it even though i had posted an article here prior

also, i read about lectin and bacillus cereus on this site
and it is potentially an issue that relates to raw rice

what are other peoples' opinions about this or graham's belief that grains are not good for one's health... is he just talking about cooked rice or even sprouted rice?

Haha no worries I constantly forget things toosmiling smiley I've actually created two lists on my phone, one for good things about food, and another for bad things. Not everything but some particular things like rice and arsenic (bad), or buckwheat and protein (good) and so on.

Sprouted rice in a smoothie makes for a nice silky texture. And yes, l have sprouted rice quite a lot, but there are better sprouts out there than rice sprouts, but it is nice to blend up sometimes for a change. The problem with most rice is that it has been dehulled so it is much harder to sprout and spoils easily.

Perhaps Doug is refering to the acidic reaction of all grains in our body! However, after ingestion sprouted grain would have a base-forming or alkaline reaction. It's well known that base-forming foods (fruit/veg) are healthier than acid-forming foods (all animal products/grains).

Cheers, jalan
