Date: October 24, 2006 07:17AM This is one I make.
Crust 1/4 cup pecans 1/4 cup walnuts 5 dates from The Date People-pitted mix in food processor- spread thin - if you like thick crust {I do} double this- I put this in a pie tin Filling 3 apples chopped in food processor 1/4 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp nutmeg 1/2 tsp spirulina 1/2 tsp juice from a lemon Spread mix over crust. Chop 3/4 cup pecans spread around circumference of pie. This is quick and easy. I like to let it sit in fridge for 30 minutes - but it can be served right away. Variations I added sliced bananas on top of apples then put nuts on. To make it look festive I also put some mango slices, and a few berries for color. Spirulina Pesto 1 cup Pine Nuts 1/2 bunch Basil (to taste) 4-5 garlic cloves 2 tsp. salt 1/2 - 1 c. parsley or cilantro (optional) Olive oil (to taste) 1/4 teaspoon spirulina Blend nuts first, then blend everything excdpt basil and olive oil in food processor. Drizzle oil in until you get the consistency you want. Add in chopped basil near the end and process briefly. Serve over slices of roma tomato. Makes about 2 cups. Re: raw pie
