This to me is a clear sign of pathogen overgrowth in the gut. Almond butter probably not so good for someone with these issues. You should eat soaked nuts more often then butters.

why can't it just be fermentation due to mixed diet

as opposed to "pathogens"

Try eating fruit on an empty stomach, and eat only 1 kind of fruit in each meal. If at some point you have a salad and eat some fat, or you just eat some nuts and seeds, avoid eating sweet things until the fatty foods have completely digested (this could take 4 to 6 hours).

Yeah i used to have trouble with many fruits, especially watermelon.

Bloating is due to increased fermentation, which is usually a result of low stomach acid. Bitter herbs on the back of the tongue can help.

Yes Prana is right.. it may be an issue of what fruits you're combining. Try to avoid stodgy fruits like dates/raisens with high water fruits like orangers and apples. Raisens especially will cause gas if combined with the wrong foods. If you're not combining fruits then I reccomend oats for the highest quality/healthy complex carbs. Raisens go well with oats. If not try fruits smoothies with lots of greens. Celery and cucumber will calm and cool the stimulating effects of the fruit sugar.

you can eat lots of fruit without bloating. Avoid the almond butter. It is really bad with fruits (because of the fat) and will create a ball of paste that will clog the track. Clogging the track will keep the gas inside and then bloat like a balloon.

So first you have to worry about the bacteria activity, and also about keeping the track free of pasty mater.

Thanks everyone for the input. I think it was the combination of too many fruits plus, I did hav a vega bar which combines rice and fruit, and nuts ( not good).

I will try to be more disciplined because I was so irritable after all the fruitsad smiley

No worries. Trial and error and we are all different. I see no problem with eating 1 T. or less of almond butter with your fruit.

I wonder if how much fruit is good for me? My sugar levels get all out of whack.. does this even out in time?

Keep in mind, I was very low carb for a long time.

should I limit my portions? I was starving after my class today ( I did hot yoga in the am and then step class).

For breakfast, I had an apple, a pear and 2 plums.... omg! Is that too much?

no, don't limit yourself
and you will find over time that "hunger" changes for the better - not so insistent

If your blood sugar is unstable without a little protein or fat then shoveling in more sugar from fruits is not going to be a good idea.

I was the same a few years back and for me it had alot to do with poor blood sugar regulation due to adrenal fatigue. I would get shakey, cold especially hands and feet, panic attacks etc if i ate just fruit alone in large amounts.

That is funny! I will clear it. I am from NY, and I totally miss the east coast. When I lived in Boston, my roommate was from Penn as well.

See, you are evidence about the bloodtype! We can thrive on all vegan.

First off she said "when I just eat fruit?" and it's almost surely a mix of the two plus pathogens, poor digestine etc. After all what do you think is causing the fermentation.

You can try some of these suggestions but in the end you have weak digestine, so work on that, dont ignore it. And follow what Powerlifter said about the protein being a better way to balance blood sugar. IMO one of the best ways to do so is using chlorella, not to mention all the other benifits it has.

there are a lot of wild conjectures thrown around here
Based on very little info. That's what I was thinking.
lots of newbies report bloating, I figure from mixed eating, even if "just fruit" plus poor digestion
Eating without true hunger, etc

Hi

I get more of a sugar high, and like I cant focus when I have fruit. I think it has to do with my combination of fruit and not waiting to eat it on an empty stomach.

Thanks for your insight!

Two hours is fine for the fruit, although I don't understand this question:
"What if I have a salad then veggies 2 hours later..." Are vegies salads? Maybe you just mispoke.

I had a large salad, but then about 2 hours later, I just had some chopped vegetables, but not in a salad form( no lettuce).
