A little too oily for me, but in a low quantity it's okay. If all the hype is true, it's an easily digested form of protein.

I like hemp seeds. I use them in my salad dressing.

If I can find them at local health food stores, I buy organic hemp seeds, but the quality varies. I love organic raw hemp seed butter; it makes a fabulous cheese-free raw pesto for zucchini noodles. It is, however, prohibitively expensive, as is the oil sad smiley Making your own would require really, really fresh hemp seeds, but hemp is very high in Omega 3s, so it's worth considering.

this is what I use each morning on juices:

It is crashed and easy to digest. Tastes good. I use two tea spoons each day. It lasts a loooong time (economical).

Hemp seeds are awesome as far as simple nurtition goes, they are the perfect balance of fatty acid ratio!! Just an unbelievable source of fatty acids amoung other things. Birds love them too! so they must be good.

how do u get them fresh
got it in a bin once
health food store
it made my stomach hurt
my stomach only hurts if the oils are rancid
so i guess the oil was rancid

to answer the question, if the hemp is fresh
i think its an outstanding source of protein
and good oils
and that's that

la_veronique,

I buy the hemp seeds in a 5 pound vacuum packed canister from Manitoba Harvest, and after I open them I put them in the refrigerator. Getting them out of a bulk bin sounds a bit suspect.

Yeah, la_v, stick to Manitoba Harvest or Nutiva brands.

Yes the bulk bins can be horrendously bad because they don't sell really well and sit for to long. Get them in sealed containers. It will be nice when the freakin government will let us grow them in this country legally and consume them as we please. If you live in Nebraska you can go out and pick them in the wild laughs, yes they grow wild in Nebraska and some other places in the us. The seeds don't need to be sprouted they are perfect the way they are! that is there nature.
