While I believe I don't suffer from kidney stones (yet), I've noticed that I felt a little thing going on in the kidneys area towards the end of the past week but then I started fresh on Mondays. It turns out that I do not juice on the weekends. When I juice during the week, I use 2 pounds of celery and huge beets. These two vegs are big on oxalates. So I am planning to knocked them down for a while. If you believe you suffer from kidney crystals, make sure you are not eating the following foods, or you may end up waking and limping in to a surgery room:

High Oxalates fruits (bad):

Blackberries
Blueberries
Grapes, Concord
Currants, red
Dewberries
Figs, dried
Gooseberries
Kiwi
Lemon peel
Lime peel
Orange peel
Raspberries, red and black
Rhubarb
Strawberries
Tangerines

High Oxalate vegs (bad):

Beets - tops, roots, greens
Celery
Collards
Dandelion greens
Eggplant
Escarole
Green beans, snap, pod, runner
Kale
Leeks
Okra
Parsley
Parsnips
Peppers, green
Pokeweed
Popcorn (4 cups, popped) (Orville Redenbacher) Potatoes
Potatoes, sweet
Pumpkin
Rhubarb
Rutabagas
Sorrel
Spinach
Squash, yellow, summer
Swiss chard
Tomato sauce, canned
Turnip greens
Watercress
Yams
Pesticides

High Oxalate nuts and seeds (bad):

Almonds
Cashews
Beans, green, waxed, dried
Baked beans in tomato sauce, canned
Nuts
Peanuts
Pecans
Garbanzo beans, canned
Peanut butter
Sesame seeds
Soybean curd (tofu)
Sunflower seeds

Lowest oxalate fruits (good):

Apples, peeled
Avocado
Cherries, bing and sour
Cranberries, canned (Ocean Spray)
Grapes
Thompson seedless, green
Red
Lemons
Lemon juice (1 cup)
Lime juice (1 cup)
Mangoes
Melons
Cantaloupe
Casaba
Honeydew
Watermelon
Nectarines
Papaya, Hawaiian

lowest oxalate vegs (good):

Acorn squash
Alfalfa sprouts
Cabbage, white
Cauliflower
Cucumbers, peeled
Green peas, frozen
Lettuce, iceberg (1/2 cup)
Mung bean sprouts
Pepper, red
Turnips, roots
Zucchini squash

Can't you avoid those problems by simply rotating those foods in and out of your diet? Is this really a concern for healthy people?

Not a concern if you have health liver/gallbladder and kidney function and these foods are consumed in sensible portions. Kidney stones is not the only issue, high oxalate foods can irritate and have the potential to cause inflammation to the mucous membranes also.

So still not a good idea taking in high oxalate foods chronically like many do with juicing and raw. Raw foodists will argue about kidney stress from high protein consumption but have no problem juicing and consuming massive amounts of oxalate rich vegetables such as spinach. Another significant problem for thyroid health is that many of these same high oxalate foods are also goitrogens when consumed in there raw form.

It is better to consume a variety of foods like you say HH by constantly rotating, this helps expose you to many different nutrients and phytonutrients also. All of the fruits and vegetables on the list are healthy, when consumed in sensible amounts. The only reason they become problematic is because people design whole diets largely around there intake, with abit of healthy balance these dietary problems don't occur.

Internet can be good for your health smiling smiley I am glad I learnt about this. Now I am going to do orange juice for a while (maybe one week). Then return to celery (but not beets) in moderation.

and it is Friday!

This is another good reason why gurus, blender salesmen, chiropractors, and cycling enthusiasts should be used for inspiration and entertainment instead of real dietary/nutritional advice. I know some "consultants" who would tell a hard-core alcoholic with kidney/liver issues that they should A) Quit cold-turkey instead of wean their way off. Cold-turkey will very likely kill a serious alcoholic and b) "Cleanse" by consuming large amounts of dandelion green smoothies.
