Is it harder to make yourself better on the...

Inside or outside?
I use to think that healing yourself on the inside was easier because as we all know books, magazines, TV, internet, etc. portrays us humans as an image (perfect body, hair, skin, teeth, etc - which is stuff IMHO) we should strive for.
I don't even care what other people think about me but if you have inner-lining (inside) problems it is or can be a struggle to heal yourself.

Opinions????.............

I certainly think the two are reflective....but the difficulty waxes and wanes with attitude. What I mean is: For those that are very depressed, obviously the answer is inner. For those whose circumstances seem bleek their answer is the outer. If I had to wager an opinion, for most folks I would say inner.

-Especially since many folks do not discern a need for such fundamental change.

what do u mean by inner and outer?

i thought that what u do in the inside
affects the outside?

correct me if i'm wrong

for example, if one eats junk
the outside may reflect that

if one thinks junky thoughts
then it is reflected in ones words and actions

if one eats good stuff
that may be reflected by good health inside and outside

if one thinks great thoughts
that is reflected in thoughts actions

or maybe i'm from a different planet?

I don't think it's an either/or.

Most people are a combo of good and bad features, both internal and external.

But some people have an inner glow that infuses them with beauty beyond the standard appearance measures.

I think the general consensus is that people want to look good on the outside but there's a few people like me who want to feel the best on the inside.

la_veronique, I like how you carefully chose your words "for example, if one eats junk
the outside may reflect that", "may reflect".
There are so many people who can literally eat junk food all there lives with no affects or consequences.

I'll use a couple friends as example, one who seriously eats T-bone steak 3 times (breakfast, lunch & dinner) a day 5 days a week. Another just eats candy/junk food 24/7 everyday of the week. They both looked as if they were extremely healthy. Neither ever really exercise but are thin.

Are they under 30? Most young people have excellent
antioxidant and other body defenses.

But they start diverging after that, based on their
genotypes and lifestyles.

Check them out when they are over 45. Like my
friends who do the same as what you describe
above. In a word: Ugh!

anyone can get plastic surgery and look like hollywood. I wonder what one must feel like on the inside to strive for a photoshopped image of perfection?

Does anyone get the Sunday's newspaper?
If so, do look at or read the free Parade magazine that
comes with the paper?

The little article on Jay Leno (Issue 12, 2006 * Page 5 *
right paragraph) is exactly what I'm talking
about.
Jay, clearly states he's never eaten a salad or even
ate a vegetable since 1969. Now I know he doesn't look
healthy, but he proclaims he doesn't have any health problems and
feels good. Jay, "I eat a lot of junk food like pizza, haburgers
and hot dogs".
I don't know how old he is but I'm betting late 50's.

Kind of back to why if a lot of us eat really healthy
but see/get problems but someone like him no problems.

I still believe some people are truly luckier than others,
meaning they can eat what ever they want with no worries.....

I've found the hardest thing to change is your mindset. It takes determination to make changes to ones own nature or routine. Thinking in a different way is difficult, that's why support is so key..the knowldege you gain from listening to others experiences.

About Jay Leno..we don't know anything about what is going on inside his body, or his brain..hopefully he is health inside and out..but the odds don't favor that being fact.

Love,
Prism
