Dang, the food industry is scum. I've struggled to get up to nearly 100% raw over the last few months, except for one lazy weakness: store bought hemp milk in my smoothies. I've slowly reduced its use, adding more water, but even this morning a half cup of hemp/carrageenan crap slithered through my gullet into the depths below, probably - I now realize - like a laboratory concocted parasitic snake looking to build a nest and start a community of two-headed tumors. I've got two unopened hemp milk containers in my fridge right now, aka money down the drain. It'll be interesting to see if I can notice a difference with its absence.

Sometimes, when someone points out something like this to me, I think, how could I be so damn dumb to not give any consideration to the chemical ingredients I consume. I think it originates from the comforts of childhood (when mothers "nurture" us with the drugs of the day), and a foundation of belief is formed that people are good and would never sell a harmful product for the glory of the almighty profit.

Thanks for posting this - my education continues. I need a lovely teacher to watch over me every step of the day.

Your welcome, this is a good source of info. and as far as your hemp milk is concerned you can just blend the seed with water and if you need some other natural thickener if that is what you are desiring. I did not read the whole study but I read and was told quite a while ago that this is processed with petrochemical solvents!?????? Wow. Just another reason to stay with whole foods.

Oddly enough I often include some hemp seeds in my hemp milk smoothies - alas, a mindless buffoon at work. Sticking with whole foods is the only safe way to go.

Are you suggesting I absorb some carrageenan through my skin via a lovely bath? I don't know, I'm too pale as it is, or would the carrageenan help to give me a tan? smiling smiley

The soybella nutmilk maker is a new concept for me, I'll have to google investigate. Is that for making soy milk, or other nutmilks as well? I hear so many questionable things about soy I avoid it in all its forms except for edamame on occasion.

Yes you can make soy milk in it or nut and seed milks in it . It has a heat element if you want to do soy. Or you run it cold for everything else smiling smiley
