Date: September 18, 2013 05:11AM So lucky to have that. l always go blueberry picking once a week for about 3 weeks over summer and live on blue berries, wheatgrass and blue-green algae during that time for some fun. l eat about 12 kg per week during that time and love them. lt is basically the blue food time, but a very expensive time because the berries are $15 per kilo or more. I converted kilo into pounds and apparently 1 kg= 2 lbs. So yeah, that is pretty expensive! Cynthia, did you buy that blueberry bush or did it come with the property? I have seen some bushes for sale (as well as raspberries) at Whole Foods and I was tempted to buy one. If you planted it, I am wondering if it's just one that has spread or if you have to buy several. Re: garden bounty 2nd try

The soil there is pretty acidic and damp, with mosses and tiny Drosera rotundifolia (carnivorous plants). Wild blueberry species might colonize over time as a matter of being on an appropriate ground but not so the store-bought plants. You have to buy many plants (although cutting is possible but quite a long process). Some friends of mine have put their store-bought blueberry bushes right in their flower bed next to their house and they got plenty of berries! Well, my friends are quite serious about gardening, they might have added some acidic compost to the planting soil. Re: garden bounty 2nd try

Date: September 18, 2013 04:31PM You know, one thing that put me off it was that they said on the instructions that you need more than one bush for cross-pollination or something. That was too complicated for me but perhaps it's nothing deeper than just two bushes next to one another... Re: garden bounty 2nd try

Date: September 18, 2013 06:44PM two might be enough for pollination but if you have enough place it's nice to have 3 or 4 of them so you'll get more blueberries and enjoy more! Re: garden bounty 2nd try
