Okay, what is an exceptable amount of time to pass from the moment a food enters your mouth to when it exits your body?

Is 24 hours sufficiently quick?
What about 36 hours?

I'm not necessarily asking about frequency of bowel movements.

A good experiment is to fast on very light juice or water. See how many days you continue to pass a sort of full-order BM! LOL. Even with my fast system...it's usually 2-3 days. Just my experience.

I notice that when I eat seaweed soup (wakame, dulse, nutritional yeast, lemon/lime juice, flax) it takes between 24-36 hours to be completely eliminated.

When I'm mono-eating fruit it's harder to tell.

Hello! It's Brand new heart. Something's wrong with my account - I can't post in my original name. What has happened?

However, here's my answer:

It depends on the food. The harder it is for the system to digest it, the longer it will take.

Meat, if I remember correctly, can take anywhere from 36-72 hours. When I read what Bryan said about spices and that the body tries to get rid of them as soon as possible, I begin to think that it can take shorter time with meat if there are spices on it. I don't know. Fruit and veggies takes shorter, often shorter than 24 hours - more like 18-19.

Good advice, David! I think you should experiment too, if that's what you wanna do.

It depends on the food. Watermelon: very quick.

Meat: several days or more. It's 30-40 hours for a standard American meal.

Most everything else: in between.
