Raw Wheat Germ? - Your Thoughts

I've not seen any talk about raw wheat germ in any forums. I'm under the impression it isn't fired (cooked). Also, what about oil products like Smart Balance -- a non-trans fat/no hydrogenated margerine-like product? I suppose it was heated in the process and thus ruled out. Any thoughts?
