And then there is this on the rite of passage of avocado seeds.

Very interesting article.
Avocados have been fighting for survival.
I did know the meaning of the word avocado.
"The Aztec word for avocado, ahuacatl means “testicle”. This is most likely because the avocado, growing in pairs, resembled the body part. After the arrival of Spanish conquistadors, Spanish speakers substituted the form avocado for the Aztec (Nahuatl) word because ahuacatl sounded like the early Spanish word avocado (now abogado), meaning “lawyer.”

I just started another avocado experiment. I am setting two of the tiny ones up to sprout. One is balanced on toothpicks over tap well water and the other over distilled water.

I' think I'll have to try to make some experimental avocado ink...

"The seed yields a milky fluid with the odor and taste of almond. Because of its tannin content, it turns red on exposure, providing an indelible red-brown or blackish ink which was used to write many documents in the days of the Spanish Conquest. These are now preserved in the archives of Popayan."

I sprout my avocado pits in a plastic bag (or glass bowl with top) with a little bit of water in a dark location. It's faster.

Thanks! How many times a day do you have to change the water with that method?
Is it just like with sprouting the smaller seeds?
