sprout question

Date: December 22, 2006 01:15AM Why are sprouts healthy? From what I understand, plants get their nutrients from the soil. Most instructions for sprouting seeds require only a few water rinses. Where does the nutrtion come from?

Date: December 22, 2006 01:49AM Are you implying that nuts and seeds do not have nutrients. They are packed with nutrients to grow a new plant. Even when you are growing seeds in a soil, for the first few days while the roots are forming, the young plant is getting nutrients not from the soil but from the reserve of nutrients in the seed or nut itself. The nutrients in the seeds are dormant until activated by water and soaking.
Sprouting release the nutrients and make them easily digestible. Re: sprout question

I wasn't talking about the nut or seed part, just the sprout. Thanks to you and David for the info.
