[www.naturalhealth365.com] "(NaturalHealth365) We’ve all heard the warnings about sunbathing and getting too much sun exposure, but recent scientific research gives us good reason to rethink any fear-based concerns about the sun. A major study done by Swedish researchers at the Karolinska Institute has found that persons who avoid the sun altogether actually have a higher risk of skin melanomas. They also have double the risk of dying from any health issue – including cancer. The study, which followed almost 30,000 women for 20 years, was recently published in The Journal of Internal Medicine. These results indicate that there’s much more to the story when it comes to sun exposure. With mortality nearly double in those who avoided the sun compared with those who sunbathed daily, the implications are profound." Re: Research news: Sunbathing decreases risk of premature death

Date: April 22, 2015 04:35PM In Sweden. SWEDEN which is at about 55 or 65 degrees latitude where even light sun tans are pretty darn rare and the sun barely rises over the horizon for part of their mostly dark winters.
They conclude 15 minutes is a good amount of time to sunbathe in SWEDEN where UV is a negligible factor. From one of the studies... "The implementation of restrictive sun exposure advice in countries with low solar intensity might not be beneficial to women's health." Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/22/2015 04:40PM by SueZ. "If she is, she's facepalming at your posts." That's what people who have no interest in being close to Nature usually do. WE need more studies! NuNativs on YouTube... Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/22/2015 05:20PM by NuNativs. Re: Research news: Sunbathing decreases risk of premature death

WE need more studies! Isn't she/you/WE in your/her/WE mind? if so isn't she/you/WE getting close enough to nature since she is you/We and you are her/WE? Well in Your/she/WE belief system maybe you are also benefitting from her/you/WE vitamin D. Or something. Re: Research news: Sunbathing decreases risk of premature death

Their life expectancy is about 50 years. Maybe other factors are into play against them. Edited 3 time(s). Last edit at 04/22/2015 10:11PM by RawPracticalist. Re: Research news: Sunbathing decreases risk of premature death

Date: April 23, 2015 06:30PM I think our societies utter fear of sunlight is ridiculous. People have bought into the fear mongering hook, line and sinker. Common sense (to me at least) is if I'll be out in the sun for more than 15/20 minutes, I wear a long sleeve shirt and a big hat. Wanna see who gets skin cancer in 20 years? I bet it's the person who slathers sunscreen on every millimeter of exposed skin every day and not someone who uses common sense regarding the sun. Of course there can be too much of a good thing (i.e. sun exposure) but humans aren't nocturnal creatures and we NEED some sunlight every day. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
