Are dates raw?

Date: January 25, 2007 02:08AM I was wondering, are the dried dates that are in most health food stores raw? For example, do you think they are dehydrated/dried at a low enough temperature for their enzymes to be intact, or are they dried at a high temperature, making them non-raw? Thanks allot!
PS... I've never had a raw date. Anyone have any experience with raw dates? Re: Are dates raw?

[en.wikipedia.org] That is raw enough for me. esisser Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > PS... I've never had a raw date. Anyone have any > experience with raw dates? You've never had dates? Or you don't know if the dates you've had were raw? (Or maybe you were eating dates from a can? - which probably wouldn't be raw.) Ian. Re: Are dates raw?

Date: January 25, 2007 03:17AM Pitted dates are not raw because they have to heat the date to pit it. Call the date company and ask if they are raw. Re: Are dates raw?

Date: January 25, 2007 03:42AM Some date vendors steam their dates. This make them shiny. There are several date vendors in Calfornia that don't do this practice, the Date People, the Flying Disc Ranch, Bautista date farm. Re: Are dates raw?

Date: January 25, 2007 07:33AM I called Jewel Dates and the lady I spoke to there, said they were all raw and never heated. Anyone one heard otherwise? Re: Are dates raw?

Date: January 26, 2007 02:10PM I get all of my dates from The Date People and all of their dates are raw. In fact, the people that own, raise and sell the dates are raw foodists.
