We have been using an under the sink model and have been thinking of moving to a whole house system and in the meantime doing some research. Our undersink one just leaked and we had a pretty severe flood on kitchen floor down to the basement, etc. We are very fortunate it was only for a few hours and we were not away. So I think we want to get the whole house system sooner than later. Thank you for your time and your input. Re: Home Water Filtration System

We recently put in a well for another house and were required by the County to have the water tested. Another contractor said he had to do the same thing. He went through several filter systems, but kept flunking the water tests until he finally put in the ultraviolet light system. We took his advice, and our very first water test came out perfect. The ultraviolet alone will not take chemicals out of the water, so filters will have to be installed as part of the system. The ultraviolet light does use electricity, so it may not be the best choice if you happen to be on solar. For our own house (on solar), we use a multipure filter system, and that has always worked well for us. We have a catchment water system (from the roof to a closed cement water tank).
