Candida and Fruits

Date: February 18, 2007 08:51PM I've been vegan for over 10 years, mostly following a macrociotic diet, and have at times been 100% for about 3-4 months. I've been eating raw for the past 2 weeks and am reminded of how great I feel when raw. However, I've read a lot of info about Candida, and have avoided fruits because they encourage yeast growth in the intestinal tract. I've conquered candida in my own system, and I'm enjoying fruit now, but I don't want those symptoms to return.
Does anyone have any experience with keeping Candida at bay while still enjoying fruit in the diet? Thanks! Re: Candida and Fruits

Date: February 18, 2007 11:30PM I have had tons of candida problems since becoming raw. And I was eating mostly fruits! From what I have been reading high-glycemic or hybrid fruits can cause candida overgrowth..these include bananas, kiwis, dates, etc.(all things that I consumed like crazy when I first started). Since cutting down on these fruits and adding more greens things seem to be going well. Some people on this board say it is not the fruit that causes candida overgrowth, but the fats. In my case, I had always had a high fat diet prior to becoming raw and had never experienced candida from this. So in my case, I do believe it is the high-glycemic fruits that do it. If you limit these sorts of fruits you should probably be okay. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
