I used to drink rejuvelac when I was eating cooked foods, and it helped me with digestion. But after going raw, I lost my taste for it, and my digestion with raw foods was so easeful that I didn't need it anymore anyways.

Ilovejen,

I feel the cleanest and freshest when I eat fresh fruits and salads. When I eat something fermented, like rejuvelac, it doesn't feel good to me. When I am picking tomatoes from the garden or fruit from a tree, and I run into a fermented one, I throw the fermented foods into the compost rather than eat them.

Yeah, I tried it once at WholeFoods because they had it set up as a Demo and you could try it. Gross. It was a bottled kind though if that matters.

It is very difficult to make good rejuvelac. It is advisable not to drink it [listserv.icors.org]

Rejuvelac. We used to call it rejuve-rot. It is not a Hippocrates invention, it is a traditional drink from the Baltic countries. We used it in the past because we thought it had lacto-bacteria. We paid for a study on rejuvelac; we naively thought the fermentation would always be good bacteria. The study found that this was not the case; 40% of the batches tested were good, 60% were bad. Also, you cannot tell by the smell if the bacteria are good or bad. Instead, you can use acidophilus supplements, and they can be taken as implants also.

i gotta admit many years ago at the ashram
i lived at, we had a raw kitchen and made
huge containers of rejuvelac daily.
we added some beet juice, and a little honey
and called it "pink champagne"

it was actually a very big hit.
