I just read the Grape cure, written in the 20's about a woman's battle with cancer and how in her laststages she cured it in 6 weeks by eating just grapes. She helped alot o people and wrote books on the healing crisises and what happened. INTERESTING, anyone read it? what do you think?

Maybe its the fact that she was eating only a raw food. Hmm... I heard some people say that within the seed of an apricot there is a cyanide compound that is supposed to kill cancer. Doctors suggest not to eat the apricot kernel because the amount of cyanide is significant. I wonder if the only reasion those people are cured of cancer is that (probably) they eat a many apricots so as not to waste them before they eat the apricot kernel. Seriously, do these kind of people even eat fruit before they get cancer?

P.S. I just had to add this! In the sig picture I see now in your message above you totally look like Jane Seymore! Cool!

There's no particular 'magic' in the Grape. Any juicy, cleansing fruit or vegetable would accomplish the same result......WY

Yeah Yogi, I am leaning that way myself. Though I can't say for certainty, I think it's what she didn't eat that contributed more to her cure.

Grapes are healing! If you don't eat junk, and just eat grapes, they can do their magic.

I believe many fruits and vegetables are healing, each has its own medicine for a specific ailment. People have been cured with carrot juice. Some fruits & veggies are powerful enough to prevent disease.

Yes, most of it is what you don't eat, but try fasting on french fries & water and see where it gets you.

I love grapes. I think that it is the body that cures itself not the grapes that cure body. I am having the feast eating black Muscatel grapes. Mmm, feeling so lucky.

I read that book, and I like when she talked about "fruitarianism and the raw vegetable diet," and said that she had seen "the old grow young and young grow incredibly beautiful" on it. I've never heard of raw vegan experiences in Africa from any other source.

What climate/state do you live in that you can find organic black Muscatel grapes?

all we get here in NJ are the ones from chile.

After my mono-banana party (9.5 days of only bananas) i wonder if it has more to do with the healing effect of the mono-eating diet. I was feeling some deep cleansing going on, almost like i was fasting except that I got to eat! And grapes are even lighter than bananas so digestion must get tons of rest.

Thanks, I'd like to read that book. Think I'll order it.

Love,
Uma

Funny i went to go look up the Grape Cure on Amazon.com and this book, The Detox Mono Diet, also came up in the results. I want to read it too!

Here is an interesting excerpt from the site:

Love,
Uma

from Chapter 4: The Grape Mono Diet

THE BASIC VIRTUES OF THE MONO DIET

Because fasts and mono diets are so similar in practice, the same healing phenomena triggered by fasts are also triggered by mono diets. Autolysis (where the body draws nutrients from its own tissues), the updating of eliminations, and tissue regeneration all occur in mono diets. These healing reactions are somewhat less intense, as mono diets are less restrictive than fasts; nevertheless, the same bodily responses arise.

Autolysis is triggered as soon as the body needs nutritive substances that are not present--or are only present in limited quantity--in the food that is chosen for the diet. To continue functioning normally, the body draws nutrients from within itself. Diseased tissues and toxins are broken down and the internal cellular environment is cleansed, just as in a fast.

Elimination updating may also occur during a mono diet when the energy normally called on for digestion is sharply reduced. Purifying processes can then be activated to extract toxins from the tissues and carry them via the transport systems of blood and lymph to the excretory organs. In addition to this purification triggered by energy savings in digestion, specific purifying properties of the mono diet food are at work. For example, diuretic and laxative properties of the grape itself reinforce the purification properties of the diet.

Tissue regeneration also takes place due to cleansing that improves circulation and promotes efficient exchange of autolyzed substances, as well as by the intake of important nutrients contained in the selected food.

The fact that autolysis, elimination updating, and tissue regeneration take place at a modified pace is not necessarily a drawback. As we shall see, mono diets have a number of advantages over fasts alone.

Advantages of the mono diet compared to fasting:

• Reduces intensity of healing crises

• Easier to do

• Removes the fear generated by not eating

• Stimulates and sustains body function with the help of a selected food

Humans have become accustomed to the use of medicines and remedies, and they credit their cures to a single active substance in those remedies. In reviewing the results of the grape mono diet, there is a temptation to attribute its virtues to some substance in the composition of the grape.

In fact, the effectiveness of mono diets does not depend on what is present (the grape, for example), but on what is not present (all other foods customarily eaten)--foods whose absence triggers autolysis.

The proof: eating quantities of grapes while continuing a normal diet does not bring about the same results as a mono diet of grapes alone.

Suvine,
Use up the fruit you have. I don't think a couple of days more of eating or drinking the juices of different fruits is cause for worry. Tell your mom not to bring over any more fruit because you're going on a mono diet. Then go happily into Monoland where magical things happen.

Suvine,
Maybe I misunderstood your post. Did you say you were already on the grape cure diet when your mom brought over the fruits? If so,I'm not sure what you should do.

Thanks for posting, Uma. I just ordered the book. I was planning to do the master cleanse, but I couldn't face another one. The maple syrup was the problem for me the last time. I did 10 days, but it was really hard to get the lemon-ade down the last couple of days.

I'm going to read up and then perhaps try the grape diet. Grapes seem to grow so abundantly in the wild in this country. I can't help but think that they are one of the healthiest foods for us. I'd much rather do a number of days eating grapes than the lemon-ade with maple syrup.

Thanks again!

Uma,

Thanks for posting about The Detox Mono Diet book. I ordered it from Amazon Monday, and should be receiving it this afternoon. It looks like a good read. I can't wait! smiling smiley I'm currently doing a mono-diet of watermelon and really enjoying it. I loved reading your posts about the mono-banana experience. I may try the mono-diet more later with different fruits. I could see myself doing it with grapes, figs, oranges, persimmons. Mmmmm!!

I think it is day 5. Pretty nice.

Oh I got my tattoo covered up. I couldnt get it lasered so I got it covered up..

I am just lying in bed. It is starting to get real hot in Miami.

I went to Wild Oats to get organic grapes and they were out. I saw my frined Lori and I told her about the grape cure and what happened to these people.

My friend at home sent me an email, he wrote that he knew this guy in south america who did it and all sorts of stuff came out of his body. I asked him to tell me more and am waiting for his response.

Harmony , are you saying you do different mono diets at a time, like a week banana, a week figs, etc..?

Hi Suvine,

Love the cover-up tattoo!! grinning smiley Maybe I should do that with my yucky one, LOL.
GL finding some more organic grapes. We haven't had any here in DFW, TX, yet, but I heard in a couple weeks we should.

I'm not planning to do different mono diets at a time (I enjoy a mixed diet too much), but maybe when I'm finished with the watermelon, I'll take a break then later I'll try another mono diet, like grapes for example. In the Fall, I could definitely do a mono diet of persimmons, or in the Summer, I could mono on figs. Yum!

Enjoy your grapes!

Yay! Harmony and Suvine, you are so inspiring.

I definitely want to do some mono watermelon this summer. Yes I could imagine a persimmon diet too. Figs are so yum but i get a fig burn if i eat too many of them.

I want to go to SE Asia during durian season and do mono durian!!! grinning smiley

I really feel happy about discovering this mono-fasting thing. Some people eat this way as a way of life!! Perhaps one day....

Uma

Hi Uma, its day 7 I think.

Emeionally I feel helpless in the world, but I chose to be ok with it. and then my mood changes, weird.

I want so bad to control things in life but i can't I am helpless. I either am X or aren't x, I have to decide what I want to be, not have or be in the future.

Sorry. I am still waiting for some detox symptoms besides the emotional weight of the world.
