Date: May 05, 2007 02:09PM Hello all! I was looking through amazon.com and found the book "Nuts Are Not Good for Humans: Biological Consequences of Consumption" by Kevin A. Muhammad. Has anyone read this book? If so, could you please give me a review? I am not sure I trust the author as he seems to be making a rather generalizing statement.
Thank you in advance for any reply! Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 05/05/2007 02:15PM by VeganLife. Re: Has Anyone Read The Book: "Nuts Are Not Good for Humans: Biological Consequences of Consumption"?

Date: May 05, 2007 10:32PM Well, I don't think pistachios are very good for me, because whenever they are in front of me I can't stop eating them until they are gone.
Does anyone else have this problem with pistachios? Re: Has Anyone Read The Book: "Nuts Are Not Good for Humans: Biological Consequences of Consumption"?

yes, raw but addictive. though i'm a part of NA- nuteaters anonymous. so i don't eat them much anymore they give me bad vibes lately. and i've had too many bitter/rancid ones over the years. i'm scared of most of them. except that lovely giant lady coconut. peace- Re: Has Anyone Read The Book: "Nuts Are Not Good for Humans: Biological Consequences of Consumption"?

Date: May 06, 2007 05:47AM I have the same thing with pistachios. The urge to keep eating them is almost as if they were salted but they're not. They're just dang good!

Date: May 06, 2007 01:41PM many people here find as i do that the nuts that most of us can get are somewhat addictive.
they are dried before we get them, therefore lower in water content, and maybe even "cooked" has anyone ever eaten nuts directly off a tree? are they less addictive ? Re: Has Anyone Read The Book: "Nuts Are Not Good for Humans: Biological Consequences of Consumption"?

I've eaten pecans shortly after they've fallen off. >are they less addictive ? No, they are delish. The only thing that keeps consumption in check is the labor factor. It's hard work to remove them from their shells. Re: Has Anyone Read The Book: "Nuts Are Not Good for Humans: Biological Consequences of Consumption"?

Completly agree with this. When I've had the oportunity to eat nuts fresh from the tree, mostly walnuts and almonds, I could sit and eat for hours! Same thing with olives, naturally sundried directly under the tree! However when I have bought them already shelled from the store they don't have this quality and don't taste anywhere near as good.
